Bingham County Sheriff’s Log: Dec. 30 – Jan. 11

This log is only a partial report of all incidences reported to the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office. It contains only those incidences that occur in northern Bingham County. The Sheriff’s Office handles dozens of emergency calls each week, deploying police, fire, and medical services in this area. Community Pioneer omits individuals’ names and specific addresses. Otherwise, the incident log is reported as written. The following is a list of most of the incidents reported and responded to by Bingham County Deputies between Dec. 30 – Jan. 11.

Dec 30

9:33 a.m. Animal Complaint — 700 N, Firth — Requested to be contacted regarding barking dogs.

9:55 a.m. Welfare Check — N Highway 91, Firth — Younger male walking, black snowsuit, black hat, backpack, headed towards backfoot.

5:52 p.m. Request Assistance — 700 N, Firth — RP is wanting this area to be plowed. RP says it has not been touched and his girlfriend has dialysis in the morning.

9:48 p.m. Slide Off — 1400 N, Shelley — Vehicle off on the westbound side, 4-door sedan. No injuries, no blockage.

11:45 p.m. Accident — 800 E, Shelley — RP’s son went off the road and hit a telephone poll, possibly power pole, and knocked it over, in a silver Subaru passenger car, is not injured, no blockage, is in the field.

Dec 31

3:01 a.m. Motorist Assist — 800 N, Basalt — RP reporting that a truck possibly white hit the back of his black ford truck. RP pulled over and the truck backed up and left the scene.

11:14 a.m. Animal Complaint — Goshen Cemetary, Firth — 2nd house from cemetery by Shelley, by the Goshen Cemetary, mailbox says (name removed). Dog is in the back in kennel. RP advising it has not shelter.

3:32 p.m. Hazard — 700 E, Shelley — Vehicle in the middle of road, is located on 1550 N around the corner from the RP. Vehicle is a tan 4 door passenger car and has been in this location for the last week. Unknown who the owner is.

Jan 1

4:31 a.m. Strangulation — 1240 N, Shelley — RP reporting stepdad is drunk and was choking her mom.

10:23 a.m. Animal Complaint — 1425 N, Shelley — RP just had a physical fight with his neighbor to the west. RP advised he’s bleeding from the lip but refused medical.

2:37 p.m. Traffic Complaint — Wolverine Area — RP states that some subjects passed them in a black escalade that appeared to be intoxicated. Last seen headed into Wolverine approx 5 ago. Speeding and driving recklessly. 4 in the vehicle. There is a silver puppy.

5:23 p.m. Information — 600 E, Shelley — RP is stuck in the snow when attempted to get further he disconnected. When I attempted to recontact him he disconnected once again. Offered to call a tow company for him or even give him tow company names and numbers.

6:19 p.m. Accident — 1300 N, Shelley — The vehicle accident. Truck with a plow and a hatchback SUV. There is blockage.

9:40 p.m. Welfare Check — E Center St, Firth — RP would like her four juvenile grandchildren checked on. RP says there is a male there by the name of (name removed) who may have a warrant out for his arrest and punched on the juvenile.

Jan 2

5:13 a.m. Civil Complaint — Roosevelt St, Firth — RP traded Air Jordans on Facebook with (name removed) ad realized they are not authentic shoes. He wants his shoes back. RP is on scene in a silver Mazda 3 vehicle.

7:50 a.m. Accident — 1200 N, Shelley — Neighbor hit the RP’s porch with his vehicle and left. He has returned. Unknown name.

4:00 p.m. Accident — N Highway 91, Shelley — 2 vehicle crash. No injuries. No blockage. Will be a silver 2021 Highlander vs white Chevy pick up.

7:55 p.m. Child Custody Interference — 800 N, Firth — RP states he was supposed to have his children at 5 p.m. tonight and the mother (name removed) is still in Salmon with them, court order states the exchange is to take place at 5 p.m.

Jan 3

12:43 p.m. Abandoned Vehicle — Howard Equipment, Shelley — Red Jetta (license plate removed) abandoned in the lot this morning. Vehicle has not note and parked on the south end of the lot near a sales truck that they need to have access to. Requesting the vehicle to tagged for removal.

4:23 p.m. Animal Complaint — Hanson Ave, Shelley — (Name and phone number removed) is the number of the juvenile who got bit by a dog.

8:14 p.m. Request Assistance — 1500 N, Shelley — Requesting an officer as she is having issues with her uncle (name removed). He showed up at the residence causing issues

Jan 4

2:16 p.m. Accident — 1000 E, Shelley — Passenger car that slid off the road into a canal. RP’s mother is having trouble breathing bleeding from nose. Traffic collision/Transportation incident traumatic 46-year-old, female, conscious, breathing.

7:10 p.m. Accident — N Highway 91, Firth — Hit a deer and left the scene – deer took off – RP requesting to have a report done on his vehicle – RP stated this driveway is very snowed in to have them park at the end of the driveway and he will meet them outside.

Jan 5

6:07 a.m. Agency Assist — N Interstate 15, Shelley — RP reporting that she slid off the road and her side airbags went off. She believes she hit a snowbank. Grey Rogue.

8:06 a.m. Civil Complaint — 450 E, Firth — Someone trespassing on his farm west of the river. 2 white pick-ups, are hunting, not allowed to be there.

9:40 a.m. Animal Complaint — Cemetery, Firth — Horses appear to be neglected, pasture near Firth Cemetery. 3 horses, black, brown and possible buckskin. Hasn’t seen them being fed recently. Horse owner is (name and address removed).

6:53 p.m. Animal Complaint — 1500 N, Shelley — Golden doodies (sic) and black Lab that have been killed some life stock (chickens and goats) RP stated that he heard about it and that the dogs have also been on his property causing issues and coming after his dog – unknown owners – Owners live on the edge of golf course.

Jan 6

7:16 a.m. Civil Complaint — 450 E, Firth — 3rd party report. RP states that there are goose hunters in his field again. There is a vehicle in the field, unknown description. RP en route in a white 4-door Ford F350, ETA 25.

7:44 a.m. Request Assistance — 1500 N, Shelley — RP states that police were at his residence last night to assist in removing subjects from the home. RP states that when they left they made comments the RP would like to speak with an officer.

8:00 a.m. Animal Complaint — 1425 N, Shelley — Requesting to sign a citation against (name removed) reference her dogs.

4:35 p.m. Civil Stand-By — 600 E, Shelley — Civil Stand-by for a custody exchange with (name removed). There is a Civil Protection Order between the mother and the RP however the child is not listed on the order. RP will be in a white Dodge truck at 5:30 p.m.

Jan 7

12:13 a.m. SUspicious Circumstance — 750 E, Shelley — RP reporting she heard a bang like something being dropped about 15 minutes ago and when she looked outside she could see footprints around their residence. The RP and mother also found footprints around all their basement windows and she believes the bang was from someone trying to steal her husband’s kayak and it falling.

5:13 p.m. Extra Patrol — 1200 N, Shelley — Several days someone dumped out a bunch of tires and a large metal gas can next to the river. RP had seen a black truck in the area but unknown if they were the ones dumping it.

5:25 p.m. Fraud — 800 N, Firth — RP states in may he purchased 2 horses from a male, (name removed) who previously resides at this address, and then on December 22nd there was a withdrawal made from his account by a (name removed) who the RP found out was (name removed). RP contacted them and they admitted to using the old checks to pay their taxes and then offered the RP $500 to not call the police.

5:48 p.m. Parking Complaint — 1550 N, Shelley — There is a gold passenger car in the travel lane and is partially in the road.

8:56 p.m. DUI (cited) — Interstate 15, Firth — RP was following an intoxicated driver, they are now stopped at the rest stop, RP is in a silver Ford Escape and the suspect river continues to approach the RP’s vehicle and is highly intoxicated.

Jan 8

9:29 p.m. Traffic Complaint — S Interstate 15, Shelley — Last seen 2 ago southbound semi with flatbed trailer hauling hay swerving out of lane of travel. Tie-downs loose, losing hay.

9:53 p.m. Information — 700 N, Firth — Noise complaint. Neighbors have very loud, ongoing issue every weekend. Loud since 6:00 p.m. tonight.

Jan 9

2:45 p.m. Malicious Injury — 950 N, Firth — Enclosed trailer on the property that has bullet holes in it. RP requesting to file a report.

4:39 p.m. Welfare Check — 1350 E, Shelley — Inmate at Bonneville County (name removed) requesting a welfare check on (name removed). Has not been able to make contact with her the last 4 days.

Jan 10

9:19 a.m. Agency Assist — Firth Fire Department — Fire station on fire.

10:49 a.m. Civil Complaint — 1200 N, Shelley — RP reporting he was renting property to a female who left her property there and did not pay her last rent.

11:45 a.m. Animal Complaint — 1400 N, Shelley — German Shepherd and brown/white dog. Both are around 10 weeks old. RP will hold onto them until owner calls.

12:50 p.m. Animal Complaint — 1200 N, Shelley — RP was attacked by a dog on Friday. Unknown homeowner. Would like to file a report.

3:51 p.m. Found Property — 1000 E, Shelley — RP has a street sign that has been stolen. Suspect is (name removed).

Jan 11

12:10 p.m. Theft-Petit — 1000 E, Shelley — Items stolen from their property. They have the suspect on camera. (Name removed) is the suspect. (Same suspect as the above report.)

2:26 Suspicious Circumstance — 600 N, Firth — States she has received a cashier’s check from Texas. Someone sent two of the exact same checks to her, she took it to the credit union and they stated it was not a real check. RP is not home. Will call after 4:30 p.m. when home to file a report.
