Open letter to RNC from The Bingham Group: Jan 6 was insurrection

Dear RNC:
Your characterization of the organized events that resulted in the overrunning of our nation’s Capitol on January 6, 2021 as a “peaceful demonstration†is dead wrong and disenfranchises many principled Republicans. Facts alone tell the story: one and a half million dollars in damages, 140 police officers assaulted and multiple deaths preclude any characterization of the incident as “peacefulâ€. Your decision to minimize the seriousness of the insurrection should be reversed immediately!
Due to the danger this attempt made to overtly disrupt an orderly election and deny we citizens the constitutional rights we have regarding the sanctity of our votes, while endangering our public employees, our legislators, and our very democracy, we support a principled and impartial congressional review of the incident and encourage you to do the same. We believe that everyone is equal under the law and each of us should be accountable and bear responsibility for our actions.
