Nalder Funeral Home obituaries

Harold Wayne Killpack passed away at his home, at the age of 94, on November 19, 2022.

He was born on December 22, 1927 in Idaho Falls, Idaho and was the fifth of seven children in the Ellis and Hazel Killpack family.

His family resided in Osgood, ID where they worked on the sugarbeets project and where he attended Osgood Elementary. He later attended and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. After Graduation, his family moved to Kimball Idaho where they farmed and where he met his true love, Joyce Marie Jolley. They were married on July 20, 1948 in the Idaho Falls Temple. After they were married, they moved to Idaho Falls where he worked for the INL for 12 days. (He said it was the worst 12 days of his life.) They continued to live in Idaho Falls where he worked for Union Pacific, and the potato warehouse. He was later hired at Lyon Implement where he worked on hay balers and hay swathers. While working there, they purchased land in Kimball and built a small 4 bedroom basement home that had no running water or cupboards. In 1950, they made exciting upgrades to their home including metal cupboards and a personal well to give them running water. The most exciting upgrade came in 1951 when a perfect red headed baby, Peggy came to join their family. In 1953 they had their second child, Elaine and in 1956 their third and last child, Michael joined and completed their family. They were an extremely close family, in more ways than one. They all shared one bedroom in their first family home. Elaine and Peggy in one bed, Joyce and Wayne in another, and Mike in the Crib. In 1962, they decided to add on to their home and built on top of the basement. This was the last and final upgrade to their home.

In the early 70’s Lyon Implement closed and he then found work at the Bingham County Road and Bridge where he was a mechanic, truck driver, and his favorite; a road grader operator.

Wayne was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in various Elders Quorum Presidencies as well as a Clerk for the Bishop. He found great joy in serving others and spent countless hours working on the church welfare farms.

He was preceded in Death by his wife Joyce and daughter Peggy, one grandchild, and two great grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter Elaine(Glade) Gilchrist, KImball Idaho; his son Michael (Susan) Killpack, Goshen Idaho; son-in-law Theron Whitman; brother Gary Killpack; 10 grandchildren;33 great-grandchildren; and one Great-great grandchild.

A viewing will be held Friday, November 25 at Nalders Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The Funeral will be held on Saturday, November 26 at the Kimball meetinghouse of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 744 North 600 East, Firth, Idaho 83236.
