Local nonprofit recognized during Idaho Philanthropy Day
SHELLEY — Monday, the Idaho Nonprofit Center recognized Shelley Supporters of the Arts as an “Outstanding Nonprofit.”
Shelley Supporters of the Arts is a nonprofit organization invested in the arts in Shelley and surrounding areas.
More than 50 Idahoans were honored at the Idaho Philanthropy Day award presentations. Each individual, organization, and business had their good works showcased during regional celebrations in November. Eastern Idaho’s celebration was Monday, Nov. 16.
“Every year the selection process becomes harder and harder,†Idaho Nonprofit Center CEO Amy Little said in a news release. “Idaho has so many impressive citizens and we cannot wait to give their generosity center stage this fall.â€
Winners were chosen by the Idaho Philanthropy Day judges committee. They studied each nomination and decide which ones best encompassed the spirit of philanthropy including, time, talent, treasure, and involvement in the community.
The three regional Gov. Cecil D. Andrus Volunteer of the Year awards were announced live at each celebration as a surprise to the winners and their communities.
Like many events in 2020, the Idaho Philanthropy Day ceremonies were hosted virtually.
“Our main goal will always be to recognize the folks that invest in their communities and show them our appreciation. Moving online will not stop us from cheering them on,†Serve Idaho program supervisor Renee Bade said in a news release.
Along with honoring the winners, the awards were emceed by George Prentice, host of Boise State Radio’s Morning Edition. Prentice has been a key player in Idaho’s nonprofit sector and is a past recipient of Serve Idaho’s Brightest Star award.
“Thank you for sending forth a tiny ripple of hope…†said Dan Prinzing, Executive Director of the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights. Prinzing gave the keynote address, speaking on the importance of individual giving.
