Free meals available for kids in Shelley School District
SHELLEY — Regardless if children are enrolled in school, if they live within the Shelley School District, they can receive free meals.
Originally planned to run through December, the USDA extended its Summer Food Service Program through the rest of the school year. Children ages one through 18 can get four days’ worth of breakfast and lunch for free. Children do not need to be enrolled in school to receive meals.
“We are doing a grab and go pickup also,” Shelley Food Services director Barbara Pearson said. “It can be for anyone up to 18 years old.”
Pearson said parents can order grab and go meals for their children through shelleyschoolfoodservice.com and filling out an order form.
“We give them meals for the four days of school,” Pearson said. “Pickup is Monday, at Stuart Elementary from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.”
The program is scheduled to run through the last day of the school year. For the Shelley School District, that is May 27.
