Firth High School celebrates Valentine’s Day
FIRTH — Valentine’s day fundraisers were a hit at Firth High School and students prepare to preform CSI Neverland.
Each year, Firth’s BPA Chapter makes and sells cakes on Valentines’ day for $5. However, because of COVID-19 restrictions, they were unable to do so this year. Instead, they decided to make candy bouquets that were delivered to the students’ first-hour class.
This year, they sold 740 candy bouquets that were delivered to all three schools in Firth. On average, they generally sell 450-500 cakes.
“It was a good fundraiser for us,†BPA advisor Kim Harrison said. “The money raised by these students helps them pay for state fees, as well as the cost of attending nationals.â€
Last week was also FCCLA week. Firth’s FCCLA chapter made and decorated sugar cookies on Wednesday as a random act of kindness, then made and sold drinks on Thursday.
“It was a huge success,†FCCLA advisor Kelly Park said.
Making and decorating the cookies helped members perfect their techniques, and the drinks were a part of a STAR event for students competing in entrepreneurship.
Last year, the Firth Drama program planned on performing CSI Neverland, a comedy fantasy by Wade Bradford. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the play was canceled. However, the set was already finished, and most of the costumes and props made, so the cast and director decided to do the play again this year.
“I think it’s a super fun play, and it’s going to be great,†Aspen Johnson said.
Johnson plays both Doris, a 911 operator, as well as Lily’s mom.
“Even though we haven’t practiced the play yet, I feel as though I’ve been here forever,†said Levi Madson, who plays Murk, a fairy detective.
The students will perform on May 8 and May 10
