Alice May Mansfield obituary

Alice May Fisher Mansfield was born August 25th, 1936, to James Ray and Ida Arreva Wheeler Fisher. She was 1 of 8 children. She grew up in the Ririe, Idaho area until they moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She furthered her education at Brigham Young University. While attending college, she met her future husband, Dee Mansfield. Dee and Alice were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 1, 1956.

Dee and Alice moved to California where their first child was born, Michael Dee. They later relocated to Utah where 13 months later, Lorelei (Lori) joined the family. A short 18 months later Teresa came along and 21 months later Martin Troy (Marty) joined the family. Alice and Dee moved to Shelley, Idaho, where after 5 years, Allison Pearl, Mitchell Ray, and Monica were added to the family.

Dee and Alice purchased their home in Shelley, Idaho in 1964, where they have resided since. Alice loved her home and made it a home where everyone was welcomed. Some relatives and friends even lived there for a short time. While Alice was raising her 7 children, she worked selling Avon and babysitting to fix up her home.

After her children started attending school, she worked as a substitute teacher for Shelley High School, where she enjoyed that for several years. She later went to work full time at the Idaho Falls Medical Clinic. She later went to work for Dr. John Lilinquist, and later for Dr. Patrick Mayo. She retired to be a bookkeeper for Dee’s business Custom Gutters.

After Dee’s retirement, they became Sunbirds, spending their winters in St. George, Utah. It is there that they met several life long friends.

Alice was an exceptional homemaker, seamstress and gardener, but mostly she was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother.

Alice passed on May 6th, 2021 in her home in Shelley, Idaho. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dee Ray Mansfield, 6 children Mike (Kris) Mansfield of Midway, Utah; Lori (Jim) Eaton of Twin Falls, Idaho; Teresa (Rod) Moore of Iona, Idaho; Marty (Thalia) Mansfield of Lehi, Utah; Mitch (Andrea) Mansfield of Boise, Idaho and Monica (Todd) Longhurst of Firth, Idaho. She is survived by 33 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by 3 brothers, James Dewayne (Jan) Fisher of Ririe, Idaho; Lee (Brigette) Fisher of Georgia, Joseph (Michelle) of Florida, 3 sisters Gladys Warren of Great Falls, Montana. Ruby Olsen of Utah, and Virginia Likes of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and several nieces and nephews that she loved and enjoyed.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, 1 sister Lila Potter, 1 daughter Allison Mansfield-Martindale, 4 grandchildren, Reminton Mansfield, Promise Mansfield, Teancum Mansfield, and Trenton Mansfield, 1 great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Mansfield. She is enjoying her reunion with all of them.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at the Shelley First, Fourth & Eighth Ward Building (184 North Park Ave.) The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak Street) in Shelley. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
