Chili and Santa and Christmas lights, oh my!

SHELLEY- Black Friday would not be the same without tasting and judging some of your neighbor’s bold, spicy, or sweet chili while your child sits on Santa’s lap.

Each year, the Kiwanis Club in conjunction with the city of Shelley puts on the Chili Cook-off Contest followed by Santa coming to town and the Christmas lighting of the city park. The event is held at the Southwest Pavilion, at Dawn Lloyd Park, in Shelley. The event begins this evening, Friday, November 26 at 4:00 p.m., with Santa Claus arriving at 5:00 p.m.

This year, Santa Claus will be accompanied by Alexis Leckington, the current reigning Miss Russet. So, bundle up your children, grab your dog, tell your neighbors, and come out and have a marvelous time ushering in the new 2021 Christmas season.
