Officer-involved Shooting wounds one outside of Blackfoot
EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a news release from the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office.
BLACKFOOT – On Tuesday, November 23, at about 1100 hours, Bingham County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with assistance from Blackfoot Poice Department, attempted to serve multiple arrest warrants on a suspect in the area of 454 W. Hwy 26.
During the attempted service of these warrants, the suspect attempted to flee in a vehicle. The suspect then refused commands to stop. He sped his vehicle toward a BCSO Deputy and a BPD Detective, nearly running them over.
Officers and deputies fired on the suspect’s vehicle, striking the suspect and disabling the vehicle. The suspect was immediately taken into custody and transported to the hospital via ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. Upon his release from the hospital, the suspect was booked into the Bingham County Jail on his outstanding warrants. The incident is under review for possible additional charges being levied against the suspect.
The Critical Incident Team is investigating the shooting. Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigating agency. Community Pioneer will continue to monitor this situation and update this story as more information becomes available.
