Carlos Arnold Call
Carlos Arnold Call, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 28, 2022, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health &Â Hospice and his loving family.
Carlos was born June 11, 1937, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Arnold Benegar Call and Beatrice Violet Monroe Call. He grew up and attended schools in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School. Carlos also attended Idaho State University where he earned his Bachelors Degree. After high school, Carlos joined the National Guard and served for over 30 years, earning the ranking of Lieutenant Colonel.
On May 12, 1961, he married Mary Ellen Selders in the Idaho Falls Temple. Carlos and Mary made their home in Pocatello, Shelley, and Idaho Falls, Idaho. He worked for the United States Postal Service for more than 35 years and was the Postmaster in Shelley, Idaho, at the time of his retirement.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a missionary in Norway. Carlos and Mary also served three missions, one in the Nauvoo Temple, another in Richmond, Virginia, and in the Idaho Falls Family History Center. They later served in the Idaho Falls Temple for 12 years. He enjoyed camping and fishing. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice and his loving family. his grandkids and extended family and enjoyed teasing them and mastered the art of backing talkwards. He was an excellent care giver for his wife, Mary, his eternal sweetheart, who passed away in March of this year. Carlos’ Christmas wish was granted when he joined Mary at Christmastime this year!
Carlos is survived by his loving children, Carlene (Lex) Carter of Pingree, ID, Kirsten Morrow of Ammon, ID, Eric (Anona) Call of Shelley, ID, and Christopher (Celena) Call of Shelley, ID; two sisters, Violet (Bill) Beery of Idaho Falls, ID, and Donna (Richard) Atwood of Boise, ID; 18 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ellen Call; granddaughter, Morgan Taylor; and grandsons, Brandon Morrow and Don Carlos Carter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at the Victorian Village Ward, 260 Castlerock Lane, with Bishop Nathan Stohl officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday evening from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
