Local Idaho company donates $3,000 to Shelley School District
SHELLEY — The Shelley School District plans to add more bottle-filling drinking fountains in Shelley schools with a donation from a local company.
Last month, Direct Communications, a fiber broadband company based in Idaho, presented the Shelley School District with a check for $3,008.05 as part of their Upgrade Your School Program. Shelley Superintendant Chad Williams said the district will use the money to increase the number of bottle-filling drinking fountains in Shelley’s schools.
“We are thankful for the donation from Direct Communications,” Williams told Community Pioneer.
Direct Communications created their Upgrade Your School Program in 2019. The program allows new and upgrading customers to donate their first month’s payment to the school district of their choice.
For the 2021-22 school year, the Upgrade Your School Program has donated $74,407.26 to school districts throughout Eastern Idaho. Since the program’s creation in 2019, a total $187,000 has gone to Idaho school districts.
“The Upgrade Your School Program is a perfect fit for the mission of Direct Communications,” Direct Communications Marketing Manager KaLee Ralphs said in a news release. “We are always looking for ways to support the local communities in which we serve, and this program gives us an opportunity to let our customers help accomplish that. We recognize that our schools are vital institutions in the rural communities that we serve. Our primary goal with this program is to make sure that our schools have everything they need to help our students be successful.”
