An Old-Fashioned Harvest Festival

North Bingham County Historical Park to Host Fundraiser to Save Park

SHELLEY, ID—The North Bingham County (NBC) Historical Park in Shelley is holding their final event of the season: An Old-Fashioned Harvest Festival. This family-oriented fundraising event will be on October 22, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Historical Park. It will offer various harvest-related activities and contests, live music, and fresh apple cider. Tickets are $5.00 per person and can be purchased at the gate. Proceeds will go toward funding the water restoration project.

Tickets for the festival will include hayrides, a pumpkin carving competition, potato slingshot, zucchini boat races, crafts, and fresh apple cider. Vince Crofts will be performing live at the festival. Hot scones will be made on-site and available for $2.00 each.

NBC Historical Park needs a new water system. The problem surfaced last spring when volunteers found the park without water and water rights.

Community members came together week after week to water the trees and gardens by hand before an emergency water right could be purchased. Emergency water rights allowed a temporary solution to irrigate the park via hand water lines and above-ground irrigation pipes.

This fundraiser will help the park fund a new water system that will access alternative water sources from the City of Shelley. The estimated cost of installing a new water system is unclear. The Historical Park is looking to raise $20,000 for the water project.

“This park is more than a picnic bench and trees. It honors the history of Bingham County and brings our community together through education and volunteerism.†said park manager Jacqi Sullivan. “We are looking forward to the community coming out to support the park and help to preserve it for future generations.â€
