Tammy Browning
Tammy Browning, 42, wife of Stephen Browning, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2022, at her home surrounded by family after a short fight with cancer.
Tammy was born on June 6, 1980, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Dennis Campbell and Irene Spencer. She was the youngest of 5 children and grew up in Shelley, Idaho. Tammy attended Shelley High School, where she was active in Ballroom Dance, Show Choir, and Band. Tammy had a great love for music, she loved singing, playing in the pep band at all the football and basketball games, and prided herself on being the first chair.
Tammy went on to Ricks College and later to Beauty College. She was in a band together with Stephen and always had a great friendship, she wrote to him while on his mission to Brazil, constantly asking how his Spanish was coming, to which he would always respond that it was still Portuguese and that it was going well. When Stephen finished his mission, Tammy was there to greet him, and they have been together ever since.
On February 23, 2002, they were married for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. Stephen joined the Air Force, and she followed him to Wichita Falls, Texas, for his training and supported him through his many deployments and tours. Tammy was always friendly and just a people person, she made friends wherever she went and quickly became friends with all his classmates, she would bring him lunch at the schoolhouse, and each day more and more of them would stay back to play games and visit. She would frequently invite them over for meals on the weekend, even though it wasn’t allowed.
After training, they moved back to Shelley to settle down and start the big family they always wanted. It took longer than planned, but they finally welcomed Kendrick to the family in 2004, followed by Dehson. The two boys were a tag team of mischief and tried her patience during Steve’s first deployment. Tammy found them throwing Christmas ornaments on the table and making explosion noises as they broke. Kylee joined the family in 2010 and became the princess. Colton came the next year, followed by Daisy after some more struggles, and then, after they had almost given up, Cheyenne came along and rounded out the even half dozen, three boys, three girls. Tammy loved her children more than anything and her greatest sorrow, when she knew time was getting short, was that she had to leave them.
Tammy worked many jobs, she loved babysitting as a teen, she worked at Dillards selling make-up, answered phones at Melaleuca, managed a Game Center, and decided she wanted to try nursing. She got her CNA at EITC and went on to become an LPN. She worked at Mountain View Hospital, moved to State Hospital South, and finally found her passion at the Shelley Family Clinic, where she worked for about 18 months before getting sick. She loved being a nurse, loved all her amazing coworkers, and was looking forward to a long career there.
Tammy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she enjoyed many callings, most of which were music related. She is survived by her parents, brothers Spencer Campbell (Kristen), and Jeff Campbell (Mandy), sister Michelle Campbell, Stephen’s parents David and Lorleine Browning, in-law Jerod Browning (Sarah), Randy Browning (Danielle), Cody Browning (Brandy), Brett Browning (Chrystal), Kara Campbell (Tom), Davlyn Tieken (Josh), Daniel Browning (Katy), and many nieces and nephews which she loved hanging out with. She is proceeded in death by her grandparents, aunts, and oldest brother Brian.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at the Shelley South Stake Center (675 S Milton Ave) in Shelley, Idaho. The family will meet with friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 W. Oak Street) in Shelley and Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:40 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
