Santa is making a stop in Shelley Idaho. In conjunction with the City of Shelley's Annual Chili cook-off, Santa will be stopping by and helping us turn the lights on in the park! He will arrive at 5 pm so please be there sooner to see him arrive on a firetruck. He will then greet the children with our Miss Russet, Alexis Leckington. Come and enjoy some hot chocolate as we ring in the holiday season!

This spring, high school aged artists from Bingham County will have an opportunity to display their best work in the Colleen Marriott Memorial High School Art Show. This annual event is an exciting way to meet fellow artists and admire the excellent work of students from the local area. Artists will display their work in a professional setting in the beautiful Candy Jar Gallery. All high school age students are encouraged to participate, including home school.
Submissions are due Tuesday, March 29th, 2022. Turn in artwork through the art teachers at Blackfoot, Shelley, or Snake River high schools. All pictures must have a matte or frame with a wire hanger (no sawtooth hangers). All sculptures must have a pedestal to stand on.
All traditional art mediums are welcome, including:
- Paintings: oil, acrylic, watercolor
- Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastel, charcoal (Pastel and charcoal drawings should be fixed.)
- Collages
- Prints: lithograph, silkscreen, block
- Mixed Media: use of two or more mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor,etc.
- Sculpture
Prizes will be awarded to winning high school participants including a $150 grand prize, as well as several other cash prizes between $25-$100 and art supply coupons with Blick Art Materials. Awards will be announced during the Opening Reception April 4 at 7:00pm.
The show will be open to the public April 2nd through April 29th during business hours 10-7pm at the Candy Jar Gallery, 105 NW Main St. in Blackfoot.
This annual event is organized by the Bingham Arts council and is made possible by generous support from the Colleen Marriott Memorial Endowment Fund, Shelley Supporters of the Arts, Lance Griffith with CMIT Solutions, Blackfoot Mayor Marc Carol, Shelley Mayor and City Council, the American Legion, Blick Art Materials, and the Candy Jar.
