Bingham County Sheriff’s Log: Dec. 4 – Dec 10
This log is only a partial report of all incidences reported to the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office. It contains only those incidences that occur in northern Bingham County. In this area, the Sheriff’s Department handles dozens of emergency calls each week, deploying police, fire, and medical services. Names and specific addresses have been omitted. The following are most of the incidents reported and responded to by Bingham County Deputies between Dec. 3 through Dec. 10.
Dec. 4
9:07 a.m. Animal Complaint – An individual in Basalt reported viewing a black lab chasing cattle in his neighbor’s backyard and is requesting a deputy help them.
9:17 a.m. Unwanted Subject – A person living in Green Acres, east of Shelley, reports his neighbors across the street were outside yelling at each other. The brawl included one female and two males.
10:51 a.m. An individual reported a white and dark-colored Huskey, wearing a red collar, killed four of her chickens, and would like to file a report and have the dog picked up.
2:46 p.m. Traffic Complaint – A person traveling along 1300 North, east of Shelley, reported he was following an intoxicated driver in a silver chevy sedan. He claims the driver crossed over the yellow line five times and was speeding.
4:15 p.m. Trespass – A woman in Firth requested a deputy remove her ex-husband from the property for trespassing. But, she said he is currently not on the property.
6:13 p.m.        Accident – The driver of a gray Hyundai Sonata swerved to miss a deer and went off Baseline Road by the Shelley Hill Crest cemetery.  No injuries were reported. The vehicle was slightly damaged.Â
7:29 p.m. A person living in Green Acres, east of Shelley, wanted to file a complaint against his cousin. He believes his cousin shot at his car with a BB gun as he drove by his house, several doors down from his home.
Dec. 5
9:39 a.m. Agency Assistance – IFPD requested deputies assist them in going to an individual’s home on West River Road, northwest of Firth, on burglary suspicion.
11:31 a.m. Petit Theft – A caller living along the New Sweden Highway near Woodville reported his keys to his truck, which was in the shop, are missing. He suspects a particular person took them.
12:05 p.m. Request Assistance – A woman in Basalt requested a deputy because people on the backside of her house were shooting along the canal. She did not know which direction they were shooting.
12:14 p.m. Burglary of Vehicle – A person living on River Road, in Firth, reported someone broke into his vehicle and stole a socket set and radar detector.
1:29 p.m. Request Assistance – A person living northeast of Basalt said her daughter continues to get pictures sent to her phone of a naked woman. The caller would like to file a report.
Dec. 6
3:02 a.m. Suspicious Circumstances – A person in Greenfield Acres reports a Black SUV parked alongside the road for the last 30 minutes and wants it checked.
Dec. 7
12:39 a.m. Request Assistance – A caller reported a male was at their back door, yelling and cussing and stating he was cold. He said, if he does get any help, he will start throwing bricks.
3:23 a.m. Agency Assistance – Deputies responded to a woman claiming she heard four gunshots southwest of her house on S. Park, in Shelley. The event ended up being a drive-by shooting of an occupied residence. Shelley police report no injuries from the shooting.
10:47 a.m. Aggravated Assault – A staff member at Firth Middle School reported a student threatened students and staff with a pair of scissors. He is currently in the office.
12:09 p.m. An individual in Basalt reported he had detained the dog that was continually getting into his pasture.
2:49 p.m. A person in Goshen said they had an eBay customer request a refund, but they did not return the item. He would like to file a report.
4:42 p.m.        Welfare Check – A person near the Firth River Bottoms witnessed four juveniles playing on the ice near the waterfalls and want a deputy to check on them.Â
6:24 p.m. Animal Complaint – An individual picked up a male hound dog, wearing purple and running down US Highway 91.
5:02 p.m. A person reported one of his truck drivers was involved in a vehicle accident with a red passenger vehicle in the 0600-hour. He called to report the accident first.
Dec. 8
8:03 p.m. A roll-over accident was reported one-half mile north of the Rest Area on I-15’s northbound lanes.
Dec. 10
10:08 a.m. Information – A man near Shelley reported a missing male, unneutered, St. Bernard, which has no collar and no chip. He wants this noted as information in case the dog wandered into Shelley.
