The Shelley Police Log: Dec. 17-23

The Shelley Police Department handles dozens of emergency calls each week, deploying Police, fire, and medical services. Community Pioneer omits individual’s names and specific addresses. The following are most of the incidents reported and responded to by the Shelley Police Department between Dec.17 through the morning of Dec 23.

Dec 17

1:26 a.m.         Possible Prowler – A woman on W. Maple requested an officer check her residence because her dogs are barking inside, which is not normal, and she cannot see or hear anything outside.  

4:42 a.m.         Burglary of Vehicle – An unlocked vehicle on Hummingbird Lane was broken into and rummaged through, but nothing was stolen.     

7:46 a.m.         Burglary of Vehicle – An unlocked vehicle on N. Park was broken into, and an employment badge was taken.   Another vehicle at the same residence was locked. An attempt was made to break into it, but without success.   Footprints showed the perp walking toward the garage. 

8:08 a.m.         Suspicious Circumstance – A person on Hummingbird Lane reported someones had rifled through materials in their vehicle sometime during the night.

9:41 a.m.         Suspicious Circumstance – A person on W. Center reported a Chevrolet S-10 pickup parked in his backyard.  He is unsure how it got there.  The truck has Lemhi County license plates.

7:33 a.m.         Burglary of Residence – A person on N. Park reported someone rifled through their vehicle while it was parked inside his garage. 

4:54 p.m.         Burglary of Vehicle – A person on N. Park reported his vehicle was broken into, and a box of nails and glasses were missing.

6:30 p.m.         Unwanted Subject – A caller on Oak St. reported there are three people in her backyard.  

6:49 p.m.         Welfare Check – A person from Missouri requested officers make a welfare check on an individual who lives on Hummingbird Ln.  The individual reported she was having health problems and issues with her ex-husband.  The caller can not get hold of her and is worried about her condition. 

10:44 p.m.       Alarm – Business – An officer was dispatched to an audible alarm at the Family Dollar Store, reporting multiple entries. 

Dec 18

12:39 a.m.       Animal Complaint – An individual on Byron called to report a loose dog, possibly a Golden Lab, by her fence keeping her dog up.  She would like an officer to come and catch it.   

 10:05 a.m.      Vehicle Accident – High school parking lot – A GMC Acadia vs. Big Box Truck, no airbags deployed, no injuries.    

11:37 a.m.       Vehicle accident reported along with S. State in front of the  Exon Station. 

3:34 p.m.         Alarm – Business – An officer was dispatched to an entry alarm on N. State Street.

7:30 p.m.         Accident Hit & Run – A person called to report a vehicle hit a parked car by Nalder’s Funeral Home and then drove off.  The description of the cars was unknown at the time of the call.  The person whose car was hit will be waiting outside. 

9:10 p.m.         Disturbing the Peace – A person on W. Maple reported the neighbors upstairs were fighting, and they could hear children screaming. 

Dec 19

10:56 a.m.       Animal Complaint – Found – A person found a Husky with no collar.  They would detain it until an officer arrives. 

12:19 p.m.       Alarm – Business – An officer was dispatched to Shelley Middle School.  The front door alarm was going off. 

12:42 p.m.       Animal Complaint – Transport – Officer will meet Husky detainer at the animal shelter. 

4:41 p.m.         An individual reported a brown and white, possibly Hound Dog was fighting with their dogs.  The dog had been hanging around for several hours. 

5:45 p.m.         A traffic stop at Center and Park leads to an arrest for driving under the influence. 

Dec 20

12:20 p.m.       Disturbing the Peace – A person reported she heard one gunshot coming from a residence on S. Park.  She said her husband was home and did not show up for church.

2:31 p.m.         Welfare Check – A person in northwest Shelley requested a welfare check on her daughter, who has been fighting with her boyfriend.  She said they are both living in the basement of her residence.   

3:47 p.m.         Welfare Check – An individual living on W. Maple requested a welfare check on his girlfriend, who is having health issues.  She had not been answering her phone and did not come to his home today as planned.

3:52 p.m.         Suspicious Circumstances – A person on W. Maple reports a purple SUV has been parked in the parking lot staring at the children in the playground and smoking. 

4:16 p.m.         Traffic Complaint – A caller near Golden Valley Natural called to report they were following a white Ranger, which is driving all over the road. 

Dec 21

5:50 p.m.         Traffic Complaint – A caller reports they are following an intoxicated driver on State Street.  The driver almost hit their vehicle. 

Dec 22

3:45 a.m.         Suspicious Circumstance – An individual on W. Maple requested to speak with an officer. As he went to his vehicle this morning to find items had been thrown around inside.  He also noticed glass in the street, which he thought was suspicious. 

4:04 a.m.         An officer found an open door on a vehicle on East Center.  A suspect ran eastbound from this location. 

8:02 a.m.         An individual on E. Maple reported some time during the night her truck had been broken into, but there was no forced entry, as it was unlocked. 

9:20 a.m.         Parking Complaint – An individual on Meadowlark Drive reported a school bus was parked on the wrong side of the street, creating a hazard. 

10:30 a.m.       A caller reported a suspicious male walking in the area of E. Center.  They said he was walking quickly towards the apartment building and then promptly changed course in the opposite direction. He had bushy dark hair and was wearing light clothes. 

10:48 a.m.       Burglary of Vehicle – An individual on E. Maple reported their vehicle had been broken into during the night. 

12:30 p.m.       Burglary of Vehicle – A person on E. Center reported their vehicle had been broken into during the night. 

4:37 p.m.         Animal Complaint – An individual on W. Fir reported a dog was always on the loose with no shelters, food, or water. 

5:56 p.m.         Child Custody Interference – A man reported per court order he was supposed to pick up his son at 6 p.m., but his ex-wife said he couldn’t have him until tomorrow at 6 p.m.  He requested to speak with an officer. 

7:38 p.m.         A person on W. Maple reported he heard someone getting into his storage unit outside his apartment.  As he came outside and opened his storage unit door, a man dressed in black ran out.  Officers advised they have been having issues with people casing the area. 

Dec 23

11:18 a.m.       An individual living in the Cedar Apartments on W. Maple reported a loud noise, possibly an explosion of some sorts, coming from the “high school” side of the building.
