Bingham County Sheriff’s Log Jan. 6-12

This log is only a partial report of all incidences reported to the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office. It contains only those incidences that occur in northern Bingham County. In this area, the Sheriff’s Department handles dozens of emergency calls each week, deploying police, fire, and medical services. Names and specific addresses have been omitted. These statements below materially represent the information in each report with only grammatical changes for flow and clarity. The following is a list of most of the incidents reported and responded to by Bingham County Deputies between Jan. 6 through Jan. 12.

Jan. 6

6:32 a.m.         Animal Complaint – A caller reported a deer was hit on HWY 91, south of Firth. The deer was alive in the road.

9:11 a.m.         Animal Complaint – A caller east of Firth requested to speak with a deputy about her neighbor’s dogs. They were chasing her livestock.

9:46 a.m.         Animal Complaint – A caller southwest of Shelley reported her neighbor’s dog was loose again. The caller stated it had been taken to the shelter previously. The caller did not want to be contacted.

4:31 p.m.         Stalking – A person south of Firth was arrested for stalking.

Jan. 7

2:10 a.m.         A caller in Shelley reported that she hit black ice and flipped her car into a canal. The caller was able to get out of the vehicle and advised dispatch she was ok. 

 Jan. 8

9:04 a.m.         Animal Complaint – A caller in Shelley reported her roommate was bitten twice by a yellow-brown dog. The dog was still loose and was joined by a second dog.

Jan. 9

2:15 p.m.         Civil Standby – A caller in Shelley requested a deputy be present while she picked up her 1980 Toyota U-Haul truck. The caller stated she had the title in hand and would be waiting down the road from the residence.

5:33 p.m.         Welfare Check – An individual reported that a mother and small child appear to be hitchhiking on HWY 91in Firth heading towards Blackfoot.

6:01 p.m.         Traffic Complaint – A caller near Firth reported that she believed she was being followed on I-15. The caller stated she had tried to slow down to get the other driver to pass, but he refused.

Jan. 10

6:39 p.m.         Request Assistance – An individual in Firth requested help from a deputy as her husband was acting “irate.” The individual reported that he had destroyed items inside the residence and threw her belongings outside.

Jan. 11

1:44 p.m.         Accident – An 80-year-old female ran into the side of a building in Firth. She was conscious and breathing.

6:45 p.m.         A black vehicle with no lights was reported on the shoulder of HWY 91 near Shelley.

Jan. 12

4:48 p.m.         Traffic Complaint – A caller on HWY 91 near Firth reported an older white GMC had been tailgating them and was not maintaining speed.
