Letter to the Editor: Community Foodbank

Letters from community members

I’m very sad that this foodbank ( Shelley ) is closing. They have save my life more than once. I usually don’t have enough gas to go to Idaho Falls foodbank and it’s not every week ………… I will miss the people there greatly. Always put a smile on my face. Love them dearly. Hope someone will step u and help the people of Shelley.

RELATED: Here’s what’s happening with the Community Foodbank

I am writing this letter because someone ( s ) need to know just how important this foodbank is for the people in this community. I would volunteer my time as well to help keep this place open. Some of the people in this community solely depend on this place and the people that are running it. It’s more than food. It is the community I believe there are enough people that are willing to keep this place alive and running. The Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets have saved us, out of the 5 years we have lived in Shelley. This year I whole – heartily believe way more of us are depending on them too. Please find a way to keep this place going for the whole community.

Response from the North Bingham County Community Foodbank Director

Although we will be closed on December 29th to give our wonderful volunteers a rest. We will reopen on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, and the N. Bingham County Community Foodbank will continue to help those in need up through June 2021 and then a new group ” Heart to Hand Bingham Pantry ” will continue the program. We have many wonderful, loving and caring people in our community. They saw a need and have stepped up. As we get closer to July we will be giving out more details on this transition.

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Beverly Peeler

Beverly is the current director of the North Bingham County Community Foodbank, located at 180 South Holmes Avenue in Shelley.
