The Shelley Police Log: Jan. 20-26
The Shelley Police Department handles dozens of emergency calls each week, deploying Police, fire, and medical services.  Community Pioneer omits individual’s names and specific addresses. These statements below materially represent the information in each report with only grammatical changes for flow and clarity.  The following are most of the incidents reported and responded to by the Shelley Police Department between Jan. 20 through the morning of Jan. 26.
Jan. 20
10:19 a.m. Police were asked to do a civil standby on W. Fir. No further details were given of this incident.
4:26 p.m. Civil Complaint – A man on W. Maple reported he was walking his dog without a leash. As his dog ran ahead about 50 feet into a field, a male came up to him and began harassing him about his dog being off the leash. The man would like to speak with an officer about this incident.
5:03 p.m. Animal Complaint – A caller reported he found a Husky Mix in the Brolium’s Parking lot by Arctic Circle. He was trying to detain him.
6:07 p.m. Welfare Check – An individual reported a male, wearing all dark clothing, was walking in the street, causing a hazard. The caller requested an officer to check on him. However, they were unable to give a specific location where he was walking.
8:01 p.m. Suspicious Circumstances – A woman on W. Center reported a 5’11’ white male attempted to lure her son into his vehicle. The man was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans and was driving a white van.
Jan. 21
5:40 a.m. Animal Complaint – An individual living on N. Milton reported a dog was barking and sounding injured.
6:22 a.m. A caller reported an individual was recklessly driving a lifted Ford Super Duty Truck on North State Street.
1:18 p.m. Welfare Check – An unknown entity or individual requested an officer check on children living in a home on Locust because they are not going to school.
1:42 p.m. A child was stopped and questioned for truancy along Holley Street. The officer was going to make an investigative report.
Jan. 22
2:12 p.m. Animal Complaint – An individual reported they just watched a vehicle hit a black and white cat near Golden Valley Natural. The cat was severely injured but was still alive and lying near an old pickup truck and some bushes. The caller said, “that cat needs to be put out of its misery.”
3:20 p.m. Animal Complaint – An individual on W. Pine reported detaining two black Labs, which were on the loose.
3:47 p.m. Traffic Complaint – An individual reported the driver of a grey Jeep was driving all over the road on North State Street and on E. Center.
3:58 p.m. An accident was reported near Golden Valley Natural. However, there were no specifics given.
5:27 p.m. Welfare Check – An individual living on Opal Court reported hearing screaming and yelling from an apartment where a child resides. The caller claimed the male in the apartment was intoxicated. However, officers concluded the claim was unfounded.
6:22 p.m. Civil Complaint – An employee of Family Dollar stated a female who lives nearby asked to leave some items on their property. They gave her permission to leave them there for 2 hours. However, her property has been there for two days.
9:26 p.m. An individual living near Sunrise Elementary School reported hearing children screaming near the playground. She was concerned something may be wrong and wants an officer to investigate.
Jan. 23
1:21 a.m. Traffic Complaint – An individual on W. Fir reported a vehicle with an extremely loud engine was speeding back and forth in front of their residence. The caller could not give a description of the vehicle.
3:34 a.m. Disturbing the Peace – A person living on W. Maple requested an officer speak with the apartment occupants above her and tell them to stop jumping around and waking her up.
1:27 p.m. Animal Complaint – A German Shepard on S. Park was out and was harassing other dogs.
Jan. 24
1:38 a.m. Animal Complaint – An individual on N. Holmes was “requesting to report something with her neighbor’s dog. There is a language barrier.”
2:47 a.m. A person living on E. Locust reported two males were fighting on the north side of the street. They were standing near a truck. “Unknown weapons.”
11:02 a.m. Online Scam – A person living on Shelley Avenue stated she bought a puppy and was scammed in the process. She paid $800 via Venmo and Zelle.
1:36 p.m. Suspicious Circumstances – An individual living on W. Maple said a person driving a red suburban with tinted windows had stopped in the parking lot with the engine running and had been there 15 minutes. The caller claimed the driver remained in the vehicle but had not pulled into a parking space. The caller wants an officer to check on the vehicle.
7:24 p.m.        CPO Violation – An individual on W. Fir has a Civil Protection Order against a person who has violated it several times during the past 24-hours on Facebook. This person also had his mother make contact with the caller.Â
10:29 p.m. Disturbing the Peace – An individual living on W. Maple once again requested an officer speak with her neighbor upstairs and have their children quiet down for the night as they are disturbing her sleep.
11:40 p.m. Suspicious Circumstances – A person on Holley Street reported an unknown male, wearing a black and white jacket, was standing at the end of his driveway facing away from the caller’s home. He would like an officer to drive by.
Jan 25
2:25 p.m. Someone reported a trespass on W. Fir. There were no additional details given. But, the responding officer did make an investigative report.
Jan. 26
6:37 a.m. A caller on W. Fir claimed her son was shoving himself into her room and wouldn’t leave. While being placed on hold, the caller disconnected.
6:38 a.m.        Shots Fired – A caller at Carnoustie Apartments on W. Fir reported six gunshots were fired. They did not know who shot the gun or from which direction the gunfire came. Â
8:47 a.m.        Suspicious Circumstance – (Carnoustie Apartments)  A suspicious vehicle was in the apartment’s parking lot. It is a blue, 4-door Subaru with spoiler, black wheels, and a blue cover over the license plate. There are two individuals inside.Â
