Police searching for suspected shooter

SHELLEY — The Shelley Police Department is searching for an individual suspected of shooting up a vehicle at an apartment complex near Shelley High School.

Shelley Police Chief Rod Mohler said SPD received a call around 6:30 Tuesday morning about shots fired at the Carnoustie apartment complex on W Fir Street, west of Shelley High School. No one was injured and the suspect fled the scene.

Though there were no injuries, the victim told police they were in the vehicle when the suspect fired three rounds at them. Police recovered three shell casings from a hand gun at the scene.

“We do not believe this was random,” Mohler told Community Pioneer.

Mohler explained there is no danger to the community.

“No one was hurt. None of the neighbors were hurt. Nobody is in danger,” he said.

The motives behind the shooting are under investigation. However, SPD has a suspect in mind and are working on obtaining warrants for their arrest.

Mohler said there is no connection between this shooting and the drive-by shooting in December.

“Completely different circumstances and completely different people,” he said.

Community Pioneer will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
