Bingham County Sheriff’s Office: Jan. 27 – Feb. 1

This log is only a partial report of all incidences reported to the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office. It contains only those incidences that occur in northern Bingham County. In this area, the Sheriff’s Department handles dozens of emergency calls each week, deploying police, fire, and medical services. Names and specific addresses have been omitted. These statements below materially represent the information in each report with only grammatical changes for flow and clarity. The following is a list of most of the incidents reported and responded to by Bingham County Deputies between Jan. 27 through Feb. 12.

Jan. 27

5:31 p.m.         Accident – A caller reported sliding off the road, hitting a tree and fence northeast of Shelley.   They are no longer at the scene.

5:53 p.m.         A caller on West River Road near Firth reported people were sliding through the intersection near the cemetery.  They were wondering if anything could be done. 

Jan. 28

7:55 a.m.         Accident – A vehicle crashed into a utility pole near Basalt.  The female driver was not injured. 

Jan. 29

3:04 p.m.         Accident – A two-vehicle accident occurred at US Hwy. 91 and Lincoln, in Firth.  No injuries were reported. 

Jan. 30

10:22 a.m.       Aggravated Assault – An individual reported a person threatened to kill him.  He is stuck on the side of the road in Green Acres east of Shelley. 

11:51 a.m.       Firth – “Female caller advising she needs to get her daughter from Shelley, and she is scared.  No prior history.  She is taking to a male caller.”

1:54 p.m.         Animal Complaint (Found) A person reported they found a brown Boxer Mix male dog. It has no collar. 

Jan. 31

2:52 a.m.         A caller reported a guy recklessly driving a white Ford southbound near Exit 108 west of Shelley, who almost rear-ended him and could not say in his lane.  He appeared intoxicated. 

10:31 a.m.       Animal Complaint – A person south of Shelley reported missing a brown and white pit bull with no collar. 

11:05 p.m.       A caller reported that occupants in a dwelling in Woodville are doing drugs. 

1:02 p.m.         Information – White Chev Malibu with Washington plate is suspect in a shooting in Shelley. They are considered dangerous. 

Feb. 1

9:12 a.m.         Suspicious Circumstances – A caller southeast of Firth reported watching a black Escalade pull into a cellar and shut the door.  They said no one should be out there. 

Feb. 2

2:17 p.m.         Traffic Complaint – A caller south of  Shelley on US Hwy 91 reported a brown, extended cab, older Ford pickup truck pulling a trailer of pallets, and having no taillights, dropped an unsecured pallet off the truck.  The driver failed to stop and pick it up.  The caller picked it up but feels more will fall off.  The truck is no longer in the area. 

3:20 p.m.         Suspicious Circumstances – A person living south of Shelley reported his neighbor is gone for the winter.  However, a white travel trailer has parked near but not at the residence.  A woman and child have been seen there.  The trailer has been there for several months. 

Feb. 3

10:30 a.m.       A caller reported power lines down northeast of Shelley.  It appears the top of the powerline may be touching another pole.  They request a deputy look at it.

11:24 a.m.       A caller northeast of Shelley reported a power line was down, but the wires were not touching the ground.  

12:28 p.m.       Accident – A two-vehicle accident occurred at 1400 N. 800 E.  The road was blocked, and there were injuries.

2:40 p.m.         Accident – A caller reported hitting a deer on US Hwy. 91 south of Firth.  They were not injured. 

5:26 p.m.         Animal Complaint – A person in Goshen reported her neighbor’s dogs were attacking her chickens.  They would like a deputy to talk to her neighbor. 

Feb. 4             

9:41 a.m.         Animal Complaint – A person northeast of Shelley is missing a dark, gray male cat for two weeks.  It has no collar and no chip.  However, it is neutered. 

11:03 a.m.       Wanted Subject – West of Shelley “Out with wanted subject at a campsite north of location.”

10:13 p.m.       A caller reported as she was traveling on northbound I-15 near Exit 108, the snowdrifts on the road were so big she almost got stuck in them.  She spun her car several times.  She wants someone to plow the interstate. 

Feb. 5

6:33 p.m.         A driver of a 2016 Dodge Caravan in Firth reported hitting and killing a deer.  However, they were uninjured.

Feb. 8

2:49 p.m.         Animal Complaint – An individual southeast of Shelley reported a missing male Golden Retriever, which has no collar but has been nurtured. 

3:23 p.m.         Animal Complaint – A caller in Firth reported a black bulldog keeps getting in their backyard.  It has no collar, and its owner is unknown. 

7:29 p.m.         A caller in a white Toyota Tacoma was out of gas on northbound I-15 at mile marker 99, west of  Firth.  They don’t have anyone else they could call for help. 

Feb. 9

10:13 p.m.       Animal Complaint (Found) A caller at Interstate 15 Exit 108 found a male Blood Hound with no tags.  They will wait for a deputy to pick it up. 

Feb. 10

11.06 a.m.       Felony DUI – A deputy arrested an individual for DUI after witnessing that person drive a white truck with a camper shell southbound on I-15 at over 100 miles per hour.  The deputy witnessed the driver weaving all over the road.  ISP was not in the area.  

11:15 a.m.       An individual on East Wolverine  Road reported finding her mail scattered all over the ground. 

6:04 p.m.         Abandoned Vehicle – An abandoned vehicle at 810 North US Hwy. 91, north of Firth, was towed after being abandoned for 48 hours. 

Feb. 11

2:45 p.m.         Felony DUI – A deputy arrested an individual in a Gold Mazada for Felony DUI after witnessing that person swerving all over the northbound lane of Interstate 15, at mile marker 99, which is west of Firth. 

10:39 p.m.       A deputy responded to a general duress alarm at a home on Garfield in Firth. 

Feb. 12            No incidences reported.
