Bingham County Sheriff’s Office Log
This log is only a partial report of all incidences reported to the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office. It contains only those incidences that occur in northern Bingham County. In this area, the Sheriff’s Department handles dozens of emergency calls each week, deploying police, fire, and medical services. Names and specific addresses have been omitted. These statements below materially represent the information in each report with only grammatical changes for flow and clarity. The following is a list of most of the incidents reported and responded to by Bingham County Deputies between Feb. 12th through Feb. 18th.
Feb. 12
12:32 p.m. A person living northeast of Shelley reported someone tried to file for unemployment benefits under his name. He would like to make a report.
4:27 p.m. Animal Complaint – An individual east of Shelley reported six horses and one mini pony were on the loose. They were heading east along the Taylor Highway.
Feb. 13
8:50 a.m. A person north of Shelley reported she received a fraud call from her nephew that he was in jail in Chicago. They were asked to deposit $6,000 into a Wells Fargo account. The caller contacted Wells Fargo, who said the account number was not valid.
10:42 a.m. Hazard – A call from ISP reported a semi-truck is blocking lanes south of Firth along US Highway 91.
Feb. 14
5:49 p.m. Suspicious Circumstance – A caller reported while he was plowing snow in Basalt at 1 a.m., he noticed a woman walk from her residence to another residence. The caller thought it was suspicious because the residence the woman walked to was unoccupied.
Feb. 15
3:40 p.m. Welfare Check – A caller on Baseline Road, east of Shelley, reported a male and female in a white car had pulled over to the side of the road. The female looked distressed.
3:54 p.m. Accident – A caller reported a silver Toyota had slid off the northbound lane to I-15 at mile marker 101, west of Firth.
3:56 p.m. Accident – A truck and blue Subaru were involved in an accident on the southbound lane to I-15 at mile marker 103, northwest of Firth. There were no reported injuries, and both vehicles were on the side of the freeway.
5:40 p.m. Accident – A tow truck and dark grey Dodge pickup were involved in an accident on the southbound lane to I-15 at miles marker 101, west of Firth. There were no details of injuries or the road being blocked due to the accident.
Feb. 16
8:37 p.m. Malicious Injury – A woman on W. River Road, northwest of Firth, reported someone threw something at her 2014 blue Dodge Avenger breaking the back window on the vehicle’s driver side.
Feb. 17
8:42 a.m. Animal Complaint – An individual northeast of Shelley reported their neighbor’s dog was repeatedly barking at night. They want a deputy to speak with them.
9:40 a.m. Animal Complaint – A person east of Shelley reported that a dog damaged the side of their chicken coop during the night. The caller found dog tracks in the snow. They have an idea whose dog did it.
9:57 a.m. Civil Complaint – A postal employee reported a neighbor is blowing snow onto the Post Office property, which has happened multiple times. They would like a deputy to speak to him.
2:48 p.m. Civil Complaint – A woman in Basalt reported she got into an argument with her husband, and he left. She does not want him to come back. She would like to speak to a deputy about it.
5:42 p.m. A caller reported a black Buick was fully engulfed in flames on the southbound lane to I-15 at mile marker 103, northwest of Firth.
7:17 p.m. A caller reported an SUV had slid off the shoulder of the southbound lane to I-15 at mile marker 99, southwest of Firth. The caller was unable to provide a color of the vehicle.
9:45 p.m. Accident – A caller reported a white Toyota left the southbound lane to I-15 at mile marker 99, southwest of Firth, and had hit the right-of-way fence.
Feb. 18
8:30 a.m. Business Burglary – A caller east of Basalt reported someone had broken into their construction trailer during the night. They would like to file a report.
