Shelley school bus hit by car: No injuries

SHELLEY — Just before 8 a.m. a Shelley school bus was hit by a car while taking kids to school. Shelley Police say no one was injured.

Thursday morning, parents in the Shelley School District received a text alert from the School district informing them that a car collided with a school bus. The crash happened at the intersection of S. Milton Ave. and E. Pine St. at 7:50 a.m. Shelley Police Chief Rod Mohler said no one was injured.

Mohler said the school bus was traveling east in E. Pine St. and had stopped at the stop sign. A female driver was headed north on S. Milton Ave. when the bus pulled out into the intersection.

The woman hit the side of the bus. Mohler said the woman told police that she never saw the bus. At that intersection, there is no stop sign on S. Milton Ave., only on E. Pine St.

Shelley School District Transportation Director Ron Searle said the bus, while still drivable, was seriously damaged.

Searle said he is working on contacting each of the parents of the students who were on the buss personally.
