The Shelley Police Log May 5-12

The Shelley Police Department handles dozens of emergency calls each week, deploying Police, fire, and medical services.   Community Pioneer omits individual’s names and specific addresses. These statements below materially represent the information in each report with only grammatical changes for flow and clarity.  The following are most of the incidents reported and responded to by the Shelley Police Department between May 5 through May 12.    

May 5

1:40 p.m.         Abandoned Vehicle – A caller on Bluebird reported a motorhome was parked on their property.  It was unknown who the owner was.

4:16 p.m.         Traffic Complaint – A caller reported that a grey Chevy left the high school parking lot with a passenger sitting out of the window and driving in and out of traffic. 

4:24 p.m.         Threats/Harassment – An individual on Milton requested to speak with an officer regarding witness intimidation. 

6:56 p.m.         Animal Complaint – A caller on Meadowlark reported a dog had been nonstop barking. The caller stated this had been an ongoing problem, and they argued with the owner that day. The caller stated they would like to sign a citation.

May 6

12:45 a.m.       Traffic Complaint – A caller on Emerson reported a male had left work intoxicated in a grey Chevy Cruz headed towards Idaho Falls.

7:55 a.m.         An arrest was made on S Milton for possession of a controlled substance.

1:04 p.m.         Animal Complaint – A caller on Meadowlark reported that the dog behind his home was barking continually. The caller stated he called last night and was advised to call back if the dog began barking again. The caller stated he was willing to sign a citation.

May 7

4:43 p.m.         Animal Complaint – An individual reported a golden 40lbs dog running loose near E Center & N Lincoln. 

6:44 p.m.         Hazard – A caller reported a camp trailer parked near N Park and Meadowlark was very hard to see around and had nearly caused several accidents.

May 8

12:42 p.m.       A runaway was reported on Maple.

2:18 p.m.         A caller reported a male and female fighting on E Fir.

10:20 p.m.       Business Alarm – Police responded to an alarm at a business on S State St.

May 9

10:24 a.m.       Welfare Check – An individual on W Fir reported that his downstairs neighbor’s alarm had been going off for 15 minutes.

12:23 p.m.       Malicious Injury to Property – An individual on Seminary Ave reported that the neighbors had moved out and damaged his vehicle. The caller stated that it occurred the previous day.

8:02 p.m.         Civil Complaint – An individual on E Fir reported that her soon-to-be ex-husband broke into her house while she was gone. The caller stated she believed he stole some of her guns but was “unsure” because he had changed the locks on the safe, and she could not get into it. The caller further stated he had returned to the residence the previous day, after officers had left, and had yelled at her.

May 10

12:02 a.m.       Disturbing the Peace – An individual on W Maple complained that their upstairs neighbors were loud. The individual stated kids were “running and jumping,” and they would like it to stop.

9:52 a.m.         Parking Complaint – A caller on Holley St complained her neighbor’s vehicle was blocking her ability to back out.

10:16 p.m.       A battery was reported on W Fir. 

May 11          

6:56 a.m.         Animal Complaint – A caller on W. Pine requested to speak with an officer regarding the neighbor’s cat that had been locked in a motorhome for the last several days.

7:55 a.m.         Suspicious Circumstance – A caller on W Oak reported a silver pickup with Utah plates in a field. The caller stated the pickup appeared to have rolled as it had extreme damage to one side and had a window out.

10:42 a.m.       Welfare Check – A person requested a welfare check on W Oak. The caller had asked for a welfare check about a month ago and was requesting another. The police report states, “Their team would like to respond with the officer this time.”

12:44 p.m.       Motorist Assist – An individual reported an elderly female driver was stalled in a grey pickup at the intersection of Fir and State St.

12:49 p.m.       Threats/Harassment – A caller reported they were receiving threats via text, and now their son was receiving threats. The caller stated the suspect resided in Shelley.

4:11 p.m.         Threats/Harassment – A caller reported her 17-year-old son received threats both in person and via text.

5:54 p.m.         Runaway – An individual on W Maple reported their son ran away. The individual stated that his phone showed his last location was in Twin Falls and had not been seen since Monday.

10:39 p.m.       Animal Complaint – A caller on E Oak reported they had captured a loose medium-sized brown dog with no tags or collar.

May 12           No incidents reported.
