Bingham County Sheriff’s Log: May 19-25
This log is only a partial report of all incidences reported to the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office. It contains only those incidences that occur in northern Bingham County. The Sheriff’s Department handles dozens of emergency calls each week, deploying police, fire, and medical services in this area. Names and specific addresses have been omitted. These statements below materially represent the information in each report with only grammatical changes for flow and clarity. The following is a list of most of the incidents reported and responded to by Bingham County Deputies between May 19 to May 25.  Â
May 19
7:30 a.m. Bus Violation – A bus driver east of Shelley reported that a beige truck passed the bus while the safety arm was extended.
8:54 a.m. Animal Complaint – A caller in Basalt reported a black lab missing. The caller stated it was wearing a large pink collar and long chain.
10:12 a.m. Request Assistance – An individual southwest of Shelley reported that a neighbor put up a security camera directed at the caller’s backyard. The caller stated the neighbor put it up after he installed a 6 ft fence. The reporting individual requested to speak with an officer to see if anything could be done. The caller stated he felt the camera was put up purposefully.
4:41 p.m. Traffic Complaint – A caller on County Line Rd reported that a white Dodge Intrepid was speeding southbound on US Highway 91.
4:54 p.m. Traffic Complaint – A caller south of Firth reported a black Chevy pickup was traveling southbound at an excessive speed.
5:58 p.m. Civil Complaint – A person northwest of Shelley reported their neighbor had blocked access to the ditch.
8:21 p.m. Request Assistance – A caller reported that a friend had moved her broken-down car to the parking lot near Arctic Circle in Shelley. However, the caller reported that the car was not there as her friend had stated. The caller stated that her friend had now blocked her number and was not taking her calls. The caller was the registered owner of the vehicle.
May 20
9:48 a.m. Accident – An accident occurred involving a tractor and a car south of Shelley. No injuries were reported.
11:48 a.m. Welfare Check – A caller from Basalt reported a male sitting at the end of his driveway; his children are home alone.
12:40 p.m. Aggravated Assault – A individual northbound on I-15 reported a male had been strangling another male. The caller stated they had stopped and were sitting in a white truck.
6:53 p.m. Suspicious Circumstance – A caller southwest of Shelley reported he was stopped by a subject in Subaru Forester who attempted to sell them a GRN/GAS powered MC that he had in the back seat. The caller stated, “it just appeared suspicious.”
May 21
7:58 a.m. Animal Complaint – A caller northeast of Shelley reported a black husky had killed 20 of their chickens. The caller stated the dog had a camo collar with no tags.
1:40 p.m. Grand Theft – A person in Firth reported someone had stolen tools out of the back of their vehicle while they were running errands. The caller stated this occurred sometime last week, and they did not know where the vehicle was parked when it happened.
2:40 p.m. Animal Complaint – Lost – A caller in Firth reported a male and female chihuahua missing. Both had red collars and were chipped.
11:12 p.m. Agency Assist – A caller southeast of Shelley requested a civil standby while they attempted to check on a juvenile staying at his grandmother’s residence.
May 22
7:06 a.m. Civil Complaint – An individual reported they had rented an Rv to a person who had then canceled the rental. The caller stated the person was attempting to file fraud charges and was harassing them.
8:25 a.m. Malicious injury to property – A Spanish-speaking male on E Wolverine Rd reported that his vehicle was hit by someone who left the scene.
11:23 a.m. Trespass – A caller in Firth reported a yellow Jeep was on their property.
1:47 p.m. A female in Firth was intoxicated and battered by an individual.
May 23
9:36 a.m. Welfare Check – A caller near Firth reported a male was living on River Rd in a tent and had a young daughter with him.
5:40 p.m. Agency Assist – An individual was reported to have left the hospital heading for the Wolverine area in a red Chevy Impala. The individual requires heart medication he did not have with him. He had been last heard from the day before.
9:03 p.m. Suspicious Circumstance – A caller northeast of Shelley reported he was in his backyard and saw 8 kids with rifles and hatchets. The caller stated the kids told him they were hunting, and he told them to leave, and then they came back. The caller requested that a deputy check the area and speak with him.
May 24
9:58 a.m. Animal Complaint – Longhorn, black steers were reported going eastbound on 1500 N northeast of Shelley.
May 25
4:28 a.m. Traffic Complaint – A caller southbound on I-15 reported that a FedEx truck could not maintain its lane of travel.
12:21 p.m. Welfare Check – A caller southeast of Firth reported a male with a baby stroller was in the area asking for rides; he was at the neighbor’s house.
1:05 p.m. Accident PD – A caller southbound on US Highway 91 south of Firth reported he was sideswiped by a vehicle traveling northbound. The caller reported that both vehicles stopped and that there were no injuries or road blockages.
4:14 p.m. Request Assistance – An individual east of Shelley reported they found a bag of needles with drug paraphernalia in it.
11:38 p.m. School Incident – A person on Lincoln St in Firth reported that juveniles had toilet papered the Firth Highschool. The caller reported they were in a flatbed truck with hay bales.
