Dr. Randy Searle: a chiropractor for the family

Sponsored by Elevated Life Family Chiropractic

SHELLEY — Pregnant women, those living with pain and even children can all find help at Elevated Life Family Chiropractic.

Dr. Randy Searle grew up in Shelley working on farms and playing sports. Throughout his sports career, he was no stranger to injury and often visited a chiropractor for help. With his familiarity with chiropractic medicine, it was only natural for him to want to become a chiropractor.

“I went to Brigham Young University in athletic training and then on to chiropractic school. Once I finished up, we came back here so we could enjoy the community again,” Searle said.

He, with support from his wife Kayleigh, started Elevated Life Family Chiropractic on 120 N. Emmerson Ave, in Shelly.

“(Shelley) just always felt like home. It’s always been home. And just always felt like the right place to be,” Searle said about why he and his family chose to settle in Shelley.

Searle said for his chiropractic practice, he focuses on a more traditional form of chiropractic medicine. On top of his schooling, he is certified in the Webster Technique, a technique specific to pregnancy, and is currently finishing his CACCP certification for working with children.

“It’s all about the nervous system. It’s all about the brain being able to communicate to the body and the body to the brain; and when that is occurring, every cell, muscle, tissue, whatever it may be, is able to function at its highest potential,” he explained.

He said that his focus is on restoring that communication in the body so the body can heal itself.

To accomplish that, Searle employs various tools and techniques to get to the root of the problem.

“We have a very intensive first exam. It’s very neurologically-based to find out what nerves are effected — what area of the spine is effected,” Searle said.

He uses several modern tools such as an x-ray machine, thermal scanner, muscle scanner, and a heart rate variability monitor. Each of these tools helps him to understand what is going on with the patient’s body.

“Based off the exam, we figure out exactly where the disfunction is then I’ll use different techniques,” Searle said. “All of them are a lot more gentle techniques than what most people view as chiropractic.”

He said it is those gentle techniques that bring people in to see him when looking for chiropractic help.

One of the key tools he uses for adjusting his patients is the drop table. The table has multiple sections that lift up and then drop when he applies pressure.

“It allows me to be a lot gentler because the table actually does most of the work,” he explained.

He said not only does this allow him to be more gentle, but it also offers great results for pregnant women.

“I tend to get a lot better results when helping those that are pregnant be able to not have as much discomfort, they actually enjoy the pregnancy, a lot of the time, and then a lot of times they have a faster labor time,” Searle said.

He doesn’t only treat adults. Searle is also able to treat children and even adjusted his own son when he was just a few minutes old.

“Especially babies, because their bodies are so new, they know how they are supposed to function. No, they can’t tell you ‘I’m in pain,’ but they can tell you through cholic, through reflux, through constipation, through a lot of the symptoms that they have that the body isn’t functioning properly,” Searle said.

He explained that those problems are so common that many people think that it’s just normal for a baby to have them.

“I challenge that. It’s not normal. The body and the baby is designed to function differently than having those things,” Searle said.

He isn’t the only one at Elevated Life Family Chiropractic looking out for babies and expecting mothers. Kayleigh Searle, his wife, also offers birthing classes.

“Because we are so focused on pregnancy, we want to help people get the help that they need,” Searle said. “We want to help people understand that there are other ways, other options for them to birth. Her birthing classes are very much a way to learn about all the different ways.”
