JoLene L. Whiting’s Obituary

JoLene L. Whiting, 54, passed away at a hospital in Idaho Falls on Saturday, October 16th after years of illness.  JoLene was born in Rexburg, Idaho to Richard and Juanita Whiting, and graduated from Shelley High School in 1985.  She served a service mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the Family History Center of Idaho Falls for many years and also spent time there when she wasn’t on a mission.  She was very knowledgeable of genealogy and knew how to connect people to their families who had passed on.  It was a talent of hers to find these connections, and she did a lot of work for family, friends, and even strangers to help get the family temple work done that she so strongly believed in.  JoLene had gone through the Idaho Falls Temple, and would often go there with her father, Richard Whiting, as long as her health would allow.  She would find the names for others to go through when she couldn’t go through herself.  JoLene was preceded in death by her mom and dad, Richard and Juanita Whiting, her sister Sandi Whiting, and one niece, Tazia Kraus.  JoLene is survived by three younger siblings, one sister, Julie (Whiting) and her husband Stuart Kraus of Rupert, Idaho, and her two brothers, Carl (and Margie) Whiting of Idaho Falls, and Bart (and Leann) Whiting of Rigby.  JoLene is also survived by her nine dearly loved nieces and nephews with whom she spent many hours throughout their lives.  She loved them as her own children and helped their parents to take care of them, often joking that they were really her children.  Those nieces and nephews are Brandon Whiting, Jacob Whiting, Makenzie Kraus, Ashley Whiting, Andrew Kraus, Emily Whiting, Ethan Whiting, Megan Whiting, and Ainsley Kraus. These children all loved their Aunt “Jo Jo†and they were truly cherished by JoLene.  There will be a viewing to visit with JoLene’s family on Friday evening, October 22nd from 6:00 to 7:30 at the Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.  Funeral services will be Saturday, October 23rd  at 11:00 in the Shelley South Stake Center, and the family will also receive visitors that morning from 10 to 10:45. Condolences can be made at the Nalder Funeral Home website.
