Shelley Russet Chefs hosting craft fair

SHELLEY — Shelley Russet Chefs are hosting a craft fair to raise money for training.

Shelley Russet Chefs is Shelley School District’s chapter of the School Nutrition Association. It encompasses all of the district’s child nutrition workers and each year they all get together to host a craft fair to raise money for training.

“Once a year, the Shelley Russet Chefs, we go to either a local or national conference and we are educated in new upcoming laws and rules and regulations on how to serve safe, reimbursable meals. Sometimes it’s just training on how to work better in a kitchen on a team,” Shelley High School child nutrition manager Laura Grange said.

Grange explained that to help pay for travel, hotel rooms and food for those conferences, the Shelley Russet Chefs host different events.

This year, the Shelley Russet Chefs Craft Fair will have more than 30 vendors, including the Shelley Russet Chefs’ booth.

“We always sell washcloths, our pans with the lids — most people really like those — and then also we have whisks and knives and utensils that we like to use in our kitchens,” Grange said.

The craft fair will be held on Oct. 23, at Riverview Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
