Gas app creates big savings at the pump
SHELLEY – Gas apps are helping local consumers find savings despite increasing gas prices.
With average gas prices around the area ranging between $3.53 to $3.73 per gallon, on November 9 it was hard to imagine you could fill up your car for $3.199 per gallon. But you could, and you still can.
GasBuddy is a good app for finding inexpensive gas in the area. For example, it lets you know that gas at Sam’s Club is currently selling at $3.43 per gallon.
But, the Phillips 66 app provides the best deal on gas at present. Once downloaded, you can find the least expensive gas at any Phillips 66, Conoco, and 76 stations around our area or throughout the nation. You can also access their $0.25 promotional discount per gallon from now until March 31, 2022, by just tying your Visa card to the app and then using it.
If you tie your debit card to the app, you can receive an additional $0.05 cost savings for a direct or cash transaction. That is a $0.30 savings per gallon.
For example, on Tuesday, November 9, the least expensive gas on this app in the area was at the Conoco station on Overland. It is directly east of Love’s at Interstate 15’s Exit 113. It was selling regular unleaded at $3.499 per gallon.
By using the Phillip 66 app tied to a debit card, the actual price paid for regular unleaded was $3.199 per gallon.
On a fill-up using 13.891 gallons of gas, the overall bill was $44.44, a cost savings of $4.16 over the regular price. That was an 8.6% savings on fuel.
It takes about 5 minutes to download the app and tie your debit card to it. There are no hidden costs and there are no monthly or annual fees for using the app. Just savings!
The app is really easy to use and can be used directly at the pump. Once you are at the station’s pump, you authorize the app to connect to the pump. The app will ask for the pump number. Once entered, you will notice the pump interacting with your phone. You will see the gas price drop to the discounted price on your phone. The app will then tell you to begin fueling. After you are finished, the app will give a final tally of how much fuel you purchased, the cost, and the discount you received.
