Alma Ranae Johnson obituary
Obituary courtesy of Nalder Funeral Home
Alma Ranae Johnson was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She left this world peacefully, May 2, 2022 at age 86. She was born to Charlie and Melba Wright on January 8th, 1936 and raised in Ashton, Idaho where she spent her early childhood learning how to hunt and fish with the best of them.
She met the love of her life, while accepting a ride home from a handsome young man who insisted only his half of the car was insured, meaning Alma had no option but to sit closely to him. This early experience foreshadowed the closeness she would have with her husband of 67 years, Don Johnson.
The love they had grew deeper with the addition of three boys – Gary, Bruce and Todd – keeping this loving mother on her toes while raising her family in Woodville, Idaho.
Not only was Alma a devoted wife and mother, but she also worked for 23 years in the Shelley school district as a school cook, where she developed a love for the many children she served daily. She became a master in the kitchen both at work and at home where new generations had the opportunity to enjoy her skill.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Alma served in many callings and devoted much of her time performing Temple work alongside her dear husband. During her free time, you would find Alma chatting on the phone, spending time outdoors and going to yard sales most weekends – but nothing held her heart as spending time with family.
Alma is survived by her husband, Don Johnson, her sons, Gary (Linda) Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID, Todd Johnson of Blackfoot, ID, and Bruce Johnson of Shelley, ID. She is also survived by her brother Curtis Wright of Parker,ID along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nephews, in addition to her precious cat Patch. She is preceded in death by her parents and her infant brother Gary, and her favorite dog, Tundra.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the nurses and staff at Idaho Falls Community Hospital who were so caring and gracious. And especially for the talents of the skilled physicians led by Dr. Jared Morton, who allowed for such a dignified and loving transition for Alma.
