Stanley King Jones, 71, of Shelley, ID returned into the loving arms of his heavenly father May 5, 2022 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Stanley was born April 5, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Vernon “Buck” Jones and Ethel King Jones. He was the 8th of 11 children.
Stanley grew up in Midvale, Utah. He graduated from Jordan Adult High School in Sandy, Utah. He went on to become a member of the Untied States Army. He served from 1969-1975. He was active duty from 1969-1972. He was a Vietnam Veteran, deployed there from Sept 28,1970-Feb 28, 1971.
Stanley was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He went on a mission to the Eastern United States from April of 1972-1974. After his mission he returned to the Army and was part of the reserves until his discharge in 1975.
Stanley went to Idaho State University for Mechanics in the 80s.
Stanley married Doriesa Fae Benkenstein in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 28, 1974. They went on to have 6 children, 3 sons and 3 daughters.
Stanley was a true jack of all trades. He was a carpenter all over Utah and Idaho, a mechanic in the service, and welder at E M Tanner and Sons in Blackfoot. He could build or fix anything that needed done. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it.
Stanley enjoyed carpentry, spending time with family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, camping, his pets, Star Trek, and historical shows, all kinds of movies, and making super corny jokes.
Stanley is survived by his wife Doriesa, children; Detrick of WA, Maryetta (James), Marina, Maylene, Tracey, and Casey all of ID, siblings; Velma of Idaho, Melvin “Duane” of Utah, Laura of Utah, Carla of Utah, John of Utah, 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews.
Stanley was proceeded in death by parents “Buck” and Ethel, sisters; Peggy, Doris, and Kaye, brothers; Clifford and Glen, and great-grandchildren; Rowan and Kieryn.
There will be a viewing Saturday, May 7th from 11:30am-12:30pm at Nalder Funeral Home at 110 W Oak in Shelley, ID and then graveside services will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Shelley, ID at 1:00 pm.
