Cougars dominate North Fremont under Friday night lights
FIRTH: The Cougars wasted no time in taking advantage of two Husky turnovers to take the lead and win in Friday night’s football game.
When the North Fremont Huskies (5-1) walked into the Cougar Stadium Friday night, they were considered a good matchup against Firth (4-2). Both have a good running and passing games. But, after North Fremont fumbled the ball on its first drive and Bridger Jolly returned it 60 yards for a touchdown, the huskies were in for a long night.
North Fremont turned the ball over to Firth on its second possession. And with an unsportsmanlike conduct call against the Huskies, the Cougars wasted no time capitalizing that drive into another touchdown, with the Gage Vasquez carrying the ball into the end zone.
But, the Cougars had their struggles during the game. Plagued by penalties, the Cougars found themselves 40 yards in the hole while possessing the ball during the second quarter. However, their defense made up for it with a near-goal line stand that kept the Huskies out of the end zone as time ran out for the half.
After the half, the Cougars got the ball and marched down the field, and on third and 13, Gage Vasquez found Alex Vasquez in the end-zone for a touchdown. Later in the game, Wyatt Nelson ran for 50 yards to a touchdown. In the end, the Firth Cougars beat North Fremont 28 to 0.
The Cougars will play the Panthers at West Jefferson for their final regular-season game Friday, October 21, at 7 PM.
