Nalders Funeral Home obituaries

We are sad to announce that our beloved mother, sister, daughter, and friend Selina Kotter Withers passed away on the morning of Thursday, August 3rd, 2023, at the age of 56, after a long and well fought battle with breast cancer. She returned peacefully and eagerly to her heavenly home, surrounded by her family and friends until the end.

Selina Kotter Withers was born on September 18th, 1966, into the loving home of Verle and Lyla Kotter. She was the baby of the family and was treasured by all who knew her. She was raised well and taught exceptional values and principles in her childhood home. She strived to live up to those values throughout all the days of her life.

Selina loved to learn new things and to see new places. At the time of her cancer diagnosis, she was nearing the completion of her bachelor’s degree in communications. Selina travelled the Earth, spending time in the Highlands of Scotland, the beaches of Hawaii, the jungles of Thailand, and the peaks of Machu Picchu, as well as dozens of other locations around the world. Although her adventurous and curious spirit took her to many distant and diverse places, she always held her childhood home in Basalt, Idaho closest to her heart.

Selina was a wonderful mother who dedicated her life to raising her four children. Along with her own children, there are many more who thought of her as another mother. She was a devoted and loving friend, sister, and daughter as well. The number of people who called her “bestie†and “mother†is a testament to her warmth, kindness, and charity, as well as her strength of character.

Selina is preceded in death by her mother, Lyla Kotter, and survived by her father, Verle Kotter, her sisters Alana and Verla, and her brothers Mike and Jim. She left a proud legacy of four children, (Tommy, Daniel, Elaina, and Mikayla) and eight grandchildren, (Evey, Aly, Ben, Peter, Elsy, Lyla, Mary, and Baby Tommy) who she raised in the Gospel of Jesus Christ under the Covenant.

Although she is no longer with us, her legacy of love and friendship lives on. We, her family, know that we will see her again one day. She taught us how to live with honor, to put family first, to love and serve God, and to love life as it happens. She fought for every extra day with us, and then she showed us how to die with grace and dignity. We are forever grateful to have known and loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at the Firth Stake Center (823 N 675 E) in Basalt. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W Oak Street, in Shelley and Tuesday morning from 9:30 till 10:45 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
