Mike Winston obituary

March 19, 1948 – Nov. 4, 2023

After battling Parkinson’s Disease for 12 years, Michael Winston died at his home Nov. 4, 2023. He is survived by his wife Joan, daughters Michelle, Becca, Jacqi, Jessica and Rachel, foster son Jean, and four sons-in-law and 13 grandchildren.

Mike’s greatest passion was teaching, and his innovative and hands-on approach received recognition both locally and nationally. Regardless of age or IQ, he instilled in everyone a desire to learn and the confidence that they, personally, could impact the world for good. As Mike helped students recognize their worth, he simultaneously made each student feel as if they were his favorite.

Mike’s former students started the Mike Winston Scholarship Fund in 2020. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to this fund to help continue Mike’s legacy of helping students recognize and reach their individual potential by sending a Venmo to Shelley Education Foundation@shelleyeducationfoundation, [P.O. Funeral services will be held at the Woodville 10th LDS Church, 1555 N. 700 E., Shelley, ID.
