The Shelley Police Log: Dec. 30 – Jan. 6

The Shelley Police Department handles dozens of emergency calls each week, deploying Police, fire, and medical services.   Community Pioneer omits individual’s names and specific addresses. These statements below materially represent the information in each report with only grammatical changes for flow and clarity.  The following are most of the incidents reported and responded to by the Shelley Police Department between Dec. 30 through the morning of Jan. 6.

Dec. 30

9:40 a.m.         Property Damage – The Shelley Parks & Rec. Director’s vehicle was hit by someone while parked at city hall.    

9:10 p.m.         Possession of Narcotics – An individual was pulled over on S. Park and Birch Street.  They were later arrested for possession of marijuana. 

10:22 p.m.       An officer responded to an undescribed incident at Shelley High School.

Dec. 31

10:22 a.m.       Petit Theft – The Shelley Post Office reported a red, 4′ x 6′ rug had disappeared from their building sometime between Thursday and Saturday.  

11:25 a.m.       A caller on East Baseline Road reported a red car had hit two dogs.  It was unknown if they were injured. 

6:29 p.m.         Fireworks Complaint – A person living on Meadowlark Dr. reported his neighbor was setting off fireworks.  

8:40 p.m.         An open door was closed at Shelley’s City Hall. 

Jan. 1

12:12 a.m. Fire Works Complaint – A person on S. Park reported she heard gunshots, at least 14, from the north of her residence. During the call, the person said, well, maybe it was fireworks. She said they were loud and scared her.

1:52 a.m.         Residential Alarm – Officers reported to a residential alarm on Meadowlark Dr. 

2:51 a.m.         Disturbing the Peace – An individual living near Shelley High School reported an older, white Ford Truck was “spinning cookies” in the parking lot. 

7:39 a.m.         Animal Complaint – A person who lives on Byron Ave. reported her neighbor’s dog had been barking and whining non-stop for hours.  They didn’t know the dog’s exact location but would like the officer to find the location and talk to the owner. 

9:24 a.m.         Agency Assist – An undescribed law enforcement agency requested help from the Shelley Police Department to talk with an individual on W. Maple.  This person allegedly was involved in an accident on Dec. 30th.  He allegedly drove through a fence and has no driver’s license.  The requesting agency would like an officer to get this information and a basic story on the event.

4:29 p.m.         Abandoned Vehicle – An individual on Opal Court reported a black Chevrolet PG was at their apartment for more than 2 weeks.  They reported it had more than one flat tire. 

9:28 p.m.         Fraud – A person living on Opal Court made payment to an alleged agent for a rental unit through Venmo.  They paid for a deposit and one-half of the first month’s rent for a rental unit on Beverly Road in Idaho Falls. They were supposed to meet with the agent.  The post is now gone.  The caller said someone withdrew the stated funds plus an additional $1,500 from their account. 

Jan. 2

12:42 p.m.       Accident – An officer responded to a rear-end at Arctic Circle’s drive-through on S. State.  A black Dodge minivan and red GMC were involved in the accident.  Both were waiting in the parking lot. 

6:18 p.m.         Animal Complaint – A person living on W. Pine reported their neighbor’s dogs have been barking for more than 3 hours.  The neighbor had chained the dogs to their motorhome, adjacent to their dwelling.  The caller believes the dogs are not being cared for by the owner, as they leave early in the morning and don’t return home until late at night.  

7:39 p.m.         Disorderly Conduct – An individual on Emerson reported a person, whom they claim was intoxicated and under the influence, was yelling at his daughter.  The responding officer found the claim unfounded. 

8:33 p.m.         Animal Complaint – A person on E. Center reported a lady yesterday had posted on Facebook that she was trying to rehome her cat and kittens. The caller said today the cat got dropped off near her home.  But, the kittens were not with the cat.    

Jan. 3

4:09 p.m.         Battery – An individual on E. Maple reported her ex-husband pushed another man. 

Jan. 4

                        No reports – other than one fingerprinting and funeral escort. 

Jan. 5

7:18 a.m.         Accident – An officer responded to a 2-vehicle accident at S. State and W. Fir.   The accident involved a white Nissan and a black GMC Sierra.  No injuries were reported. 

7:34 a.m.         Accident – An officer responded to a 2-vehicle crash at E. Center and N. Milton.   The accident involved a white SUV and a parked silver car.  There were no injuries reported. 

7:56 a.m.         Accident – An officer responded to a second accident at S. State and W. Fir.  They did not report the details of the accident.
