Bell ringers needed for Goodfellow’s Drive

SHELLEY — The annual Goodfellow’s drive begins Nov. 30 and the Kiwanis Club of Shelley and Firth needs volunteers to ring the bell.

For more than 35 years, Shelley has participated in the Kiwanis Goodfellow’s drive, raising funds to provide Christmas dinners for the people of Shelley and Firth. This year, starting Nov. 30 through Dec. 5 then Dec. 14-19, volunteers will ring a bell outside of Broulim’s in Shelley in an attempt to raise, at least, $6,000.

“There’s a need for people to ring the bell,” Kiwanis Club board member Kim Adams told Community Pioneer. “This is an opportunity for businesses, families and individuals to do service over the Christmas season.”

Anyone interested in volunteering between Nov. 30 and Dec. 5, can sign up by clicking here. Those interested in signing up for days between Dec. 14 and 19, can do so by clicking here.

Adams said bell ringers from businesses that sign up are allowed to wear clothing with their business’ logos .

“We are also accepting donations, if people would rather donate directly,” she said.

Every year the Goodfellow’s drive provides Christmas dinners for around 250 people and donates 100 hams to the Shelley food bank. Last year, the fundraiser brought in more than $5,000. This year, the Kiwanis Club hopes to bring in more than $6,000.

“One hundred percent of donations go to building Christmas dinner boxes and donating hams to the Shelley food bank,” Adams said.
