Bingham County Sheriff’s Log Jan. 13-20

This log is only a partial report of all incidences reported to the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office. It contains only those incidences that occur in northern Bingham County. In this area, the Sheriff’s Department handles dozens of emergency calls each week, deploying police, fire, and medical services. Names and specific addresses have been omitted. The statements below materially represent the information in each report with only grammatical changes for flow and clarity. The following is a list of most of the incidents reported and responded to by Bingham County Deputies between Jan. 13 through Jan. 20.

Jan. 13

2:15 p.m.         A caller northeast of Shelley reported a woman was harassing him through Facebook. 

10:28 p.m.       Traffic Complaint – A person reported a red 2006 Ford TK was swerving all over US Hwy. 91 in the Firth area.       

Jan. 14

5:00 p.m.         A man reported his daughter was walking alongside 1250 North, west of Shelley, at about 1 p.m. when a man in this mid-40s, with a long beard, driving an older white van, braked when he saw her and pulled off to the side of the road.  He, then, sat there and watched her walk. 

4:26 p.m.         A caller living southeast of Shelley reported his aunt was harassing him and his grandparents.  He claims this has been an ongoing issue and wanted to speak with a deputy. 

5:04 p.m.         An individual living in Woodville requested a deputy to talk to about a package he found in his driveway.  

5:33 p.m.         An individual was cited for excessive DUI at the Woodville Townsite.  

Jan. 15

10:17 a.m..      Welfare Check  – An individual requested a deputy to contact a couple who live northeast of Shelley.  The individual has been unable to get a hold of them for several weeks.   The phone has now been disconnected.

6:36 p.m.         Civil Standby – An individual requested a deputy standby as he picks up his belongings from his sister’s residence southeast of Shelley.

Jan. 16

12:14 a.m.       Vehicle Burglary – A caller reported his Jeep Compass had been broken into while it was parked east of Exit 108 to I-15.  He said the thief took his prescription medication and a Bluetooth.  He claims the incident occurred sometime after 7 p.m. 

8:37 a.m.         A caller requested assistance in knowing what precautions he needs to take to cut down his tree.  He was hoping it wouldn’t block the county road.  He just wanted to know what he could and could not do. 

10:20 a.m.       A caller reported a female from a brown van with Montana plates was yelling at several people in and out of the rest area’s building along southbound I-15, west of Firth.  

4:16 p.m.         Hazard – A caller reported two big metal shelving units in the northbound lanes of I-15 at mile marker 98. 

8:37 p.m.         A caller in the Woodville area reported his juvenile son said his mother was getting physical with him. 

9:16 p.m.         Animal Complaint – A woman living northeast of Firth reported her neighbor’s dogs attacked her goat.  She said her husband is in the pasture with a firearm in case they return. 

10:03 p.m.       A woman in the Firth area reported a humming noise around her house since Monday.  She has been unable to locate the source of the sound.  But, she believes it is coming from outside her residence. 

Jan. 17

9:28 a.m.         Malicious Injury – A caller reported a vending machine at the southbound I-15 rest area was damaged.  He does not know if anything was stolen.   

12:19 p.m.       Welfare Check – Child Protective Service needs a deputy’s assistance as they do a Priority 3 welfare check on a child who has been sexually abused by a parent’s friend.  The child is currently with her grandparents. 

1:02 p.m.         Suspicciouis Circumstance – A caller at the southbound I-15 rest area reported a man was hitting a child in the backseat of an older green Yukon or Tahoe.

1:52 p.m.         Animal Complaint – An individual living east of Jameston reported three white and brown Hound dogs running loose in the area.  

Jan. 18

9:15 a.m.         Hazard – A caller reported a bunch of metal in the middle of US Hwy. 91 just north of Kimball hill. 

2:03 p.m.         An unknown suspicious circumstance was reported at Firth High School.  Details of the event were not reported in the record. 

Jan. 19

8:08 a.m.         Accident – A caller reported he hit a deer on US Highway 91 south of Firth. 

5:14 p.m.         Accident – A caller reported a silver Ford Trust rear-ended him in his blue Ford Escape on southbound I-15 near the rest area.  The driver of the Ford continued on, and he was following him.  No injuries were reported. 

Jan. 20

6:19 a.m.         Animal Complaint – An individual living east of Shelley reported 6 horses in her yard.
