Shelley High School student joins Community Pioneer
SHELLEY — A sophomore at Shelley High School has joined the Community Pioneer team.
Jamar Taylor, 16, will cover the happenings at Shelley High School for Community Pioneer. He hopes to gain some experience and beef up his college applications during his time as a student reporter.
“I like writing a lot,” Taylor said. “I can type super fast and sometimes I can just speak my mind.”
Taylor said he enjoys expressing his opinions through writing, but he also simply enjoys typing.
“I’ve always liked typing on computers, like, just the feel of the keyboard,” he said.
Taylor was born in Mongolia but came to the United States at just three months old. He moved with his family to the outskirts of Shelley when he was 10 years old.
He has participated on the Shelley wrestling team and cross country team and currently serves as the Sophomore Class President.
Taylor’s favorite thing he’s learning is Spanish.
“It’s really fun,” he said.
With two more years of high school left, Taylor has a goal of maintaining straight A’s. However, he did admit that he has a couple of B’s, but is working to get them up.
“I think if I can just work hard during high school, it’ll definitely help me in college,” Taylor said.
