Bingham County Sheriff’s Office Log: March 10-17

This log is only a partial report of all incidences reported to the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office. It contains only those incidences that occur in northern Bingham County. In this area, the Sheriff’s Department handles dozens of emergency calls each week, deploying police, fire, and medical services. Names and specific addresses have been omitted. These statements below materially represent the information in each report with only grammatical changes for flow and clarity. The following is a list of most of the incidents reported and responded to by Bingham County Deputies between March 10 through March 17. 

March 10

1:38 p.m.         Animal Complaint – A caller east of Shelley reported their neighbor’s 3 dogs were continually loose and had been chasing her horses. The caller stated this was a continual problem, and the dog’s owner had refused to keep their dogs detained.  

2:26 p.m.         Accident – An accident was reported on US Hwy 91 in Firth. 

10:53 p.m.       Welfare Check – A caller in Woodville requested a welfare check for a female outside their residence. The female had told the caller she had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend and asked the caller for help but then walked off down the street eastbound. The female was wearing glasses, a hat, and jeans and had left about 5 minutes prior. The caller’s son also stated that the female had tried stopping him on his way home and had stated that her boyfriend was trying to kill her.

March 11

3:22 p.m.         Accident – An accident was reported southbound on I-15 near Exit 108. A white vehicle hit the guardrail; airbags did deploy.

5:07 p.m.         Threats – A caller traveling southbound on I-15 near Firth reported a subject in a gray Mazda waved a handgun at him but did not point it at him.

7:52 p.m.         Traffic Complaint – A person reported a white Ford F-350 pulling a farm implement on I-15 near Firth. The caller stated there were no lights on the implement, and it could not be seen until very close.

9:14 p.m.         DUI – A deputy arrested an individual for driving under the influence on Lava Rd southwest of Shelley.

March 12         

3:38 p.m.         Animal Complaint – A caller east of Shelley requested a cat trap.

5:28 p.m.         Lost Animal – A caller south of Firth reported two female poodle pups missing. The caller stated they were about 6 months old, both cream-colored, neither had collars, but they were chipped.

11:06 p.m.       Traffic Complaint – A person on Main St. Firth reported a white Dodge with a large custom bumper was unable to maintain lane of travel. The caller stated it was heading southbound on US Hwy 91.

March 13

 1:23 a.m.        Accident – Deputies responded to the roll-over of a red SUV off the shoulder of I-15 near Shelley.

6:47 a.m.         Traffic Complaint – Received from Bonneville Sheriff’s Department. The father of a subject witnessed him leave intoxicated with his son in the vehicle. The vehicle was a black Toyota van with Washington plates.

4:31 p.m.         An abandoned vehicle was reported southwest of Shelley. 

8:31 p.m.         Traffic Complaint – A caller on Hwy 91 north of Firth reported a white van drove by and threw an egg at her vehicle. The caller stated the van was heading northbound and was last seen 30 minutes ago.

March 14

 11:30 a.m.      Property Damage – A person south of Shelley reported that someone had thrown a book through the front window of their home last night and broken it.

12:58 p.m.       Vehicle Theft – A caller reported that an unknown female had taken his truck 60-90 minutes ago. It was last seen heading northbound from the residence. 

March 15

9:39 a.m.         Animal Complaint – A person east of Shelley requested a cat trap.

1:34 p.m.         Fraud – A person south of Firth reported that several phone numbers were contacting them, impersonating an officer who was threatening to arrest them for narcotics.

4:56 p.m.         Traffic Complaint – A caller in Basalt reported a child on a bike and another on a blue 4-wheeler were doing donuts in the LDS church parking lot and tearing up the grass. The caller stated, “appears to be 5 or 6 children.”

9:14 p.m.         Animal Complaint – A person east of Shelley reported that a white Pitbull with brown around one eye and on its tail was charging them and attacking their dogs. They stated that it kept coming onto their property, and they did not know to whom it belonged.

March 16

8:26 p.m.         Suspicious Circumstance – A caller reported a dark-colored pickup parked by the gate of the water storage tanks east of Shelley. It had been there for 3 hours and had its taillights on.

March 17

 1:59 a.m.        Hazard – A person reported a large animal was dead in the lane of travel on I-15 near Shelley. 

3:23 a.m.         Welfare Check – A caller northwest of Firth reported a semi parked outside idling for 5 hours partially in the roadway.

10:20 a.m.       Animal Complaint – A caller east of Shelley reported a “vicious Pitbull.”

1:00 p.m.         Animal Complaint – A person east of Shelley reported a dog had been caught in a trap and requested a deputy come pick it up.

4:33 p.m.         Property Damage – A person northeast of Shelley reported that a 5 or 6-year-old girl had thrown rocks at her 2020 Kia Telluride. She wanted a deputy to talk to her parents.  The caller did not think there was enough damage to file a report.
