New information regarding the article on Anita’s Gifts and Café leads to its retraction

In the February 22, 2021 issue of the Community Pioneer print edition, Community Pioneer published an article regarding Anita’s Gifts and Café. The article was also published online. The café was being opened by Anita Collier, AKA April Sliker, and her husband Roger Collier. Shortly after publishing the article, former employees and acquaintances of the Colliers reached out to Community Pioneer with concerns about the article and the Colliers themselves.

Upon speaking with the concerned individuals, Community Pioneer uncovered a number of troubling inconsistencies in the information the Colliers provided. The Colliers have been given the opportunity to respond to the accusations made against them, but have refused to go on the record.

Community Pioneer has also learned that Anita’s Gifts and Café will not be opening at the planned location on the corner of West Pine St. and State St.

It is due to these reasons Community Pioneer has retracted the article titled “Losing everything won’t stop this couple from opening a café in Shelley.”

In the interest of transparency, the article is still available to read online, however, Community Pioneer does not stand by the information found therein.
