The Shelley Police Log: March 31 – April 21

The Shelley Police Department handles dozens of emergency calls each week, deploying Police, fire, and medical services.   Community Pioneer omits individual’s names and specific addresses. These statements below materially represent the information in each report with only grammatical changes for flow and clarity.  The following are most of the incidents reported and responded to by the Shelley Police Department between March 31 through April 21.     

March 31

10:17 a.m.       Animal Complaint – An individual on Fir St. reported two Boxer dogs on the loose.  The caller believed both dogs had shock collars. 

11:59 a.m.       A caller reported a fight in progress at Hobbs Middle School. 

6:19 a.m.         Civil Complaint – A person reported he took his vehicle to a mechanic, and now the mechanic is refusing to release it to him. 

April 1

8:00 a.m.         Petit Theft – A theft was reported at Shelley High School.

8:16 a.m.         Animal Complaint – Lost – An individual on Aspen Ave. reported a male Husky was missing.  It is not fixed.  It was wearing a green/camo collar. 

8:30 a.m.         Information – A person on Sugar Ave. reported two abandoned vehicles in front of his residence.  One is a Cadilac.  The other is unknown.  The caller would like to be contacted. 

  6:27 p.m.       CPO Violation – An individual on Maple St. reported their son was at their location and just left.  They said there is an order that may not have been served.

10:06 p.m.       Suspicious Circumstance – An individual reported they saw two juveniles riding bikes in the area of Shelley High School.   They stopped near a semi-trailer on the west side of the school.   

April 2

2:59 p.m.         Animal Complaint – A person on W. Maple reported another dog attacked his dog.  Its owner was unknown. 

9:16 p.m.         Suspicious Circumstance – An individual on Wind River Dr. reported two white teenagers were acting suspiciously.  They appeared to be trying to get into a house. 

9:50 p.m.         Suspicious Circumstance – A person on N. Byron reported two males were yelling at each other while walking down the street.  They were last seen turning down Oak. 

10:35 p.m.       Suspicious Circumstance – A caller on W. Fir reported two juveniles in a black Chev truck were possibly throwing eggs.  They dropped an egg by the caller’s house.  They got into the truck and went eastbound on Fir and north of Hansen. 

April 3

12:26 p.m.       Request Assistance – A person on E. Center reported their neighbor was shooting a pellet gun in their direction.  The caller was concerned for her safety as well as her animals. 

4:11 p.m.         Welfare Check – An individual requested an officer check his grandmother.  He had not heard from her in two weeks, which is unlike her.  The phone says it is out of service, and she had not posted anything on Facebook. 

April 4

12:38 p.m.       Welfare Check – A caller requested a check of an individual coming down from meth.  

1:05 p.m.         Accident – An individual on W. Oak reported an ATV accident had just occurred.  The male driver was not moving. 

2:07 p.m.         Accident – A dirt bike crashed into two vehicles, a red Honda and a grey Honda, on W. Wind River.  No injuries were reported.  The street was not blocked. 

2:11 p.m.         Animal Complaint – A dog bit a girl on W. Oak.  She was conscious and breathing. 

9:55 p.m.         Traffic Complaint – An individual on US Hwy 91 reported a white Acura had something hanging down under the vehicle, and it is sending off sparks. 

10:13 p.m.       Business Alarm – A business on S. State had an alarm go off.  

April 5

8:14 a.m.         Civil Complaint – A caller on E. Maple reported a Chev truck on the street that does not run.  It needs to be tagged. 

9:28 a.m.         Trespass – An individual reported construction workers on the house next keep trespassing onto his property. He has told them repeatedly not to do it. 

12:08 p.m.       Petit Theft – A call on W. Oak reported a black and blue Mongoose Mountain bike was stolen from this porch last night. 

2:02 p.m.         Information – Hardtimes II reported a drive office after getting gas.  The vehicle was a new gray Chev or GMC model with a license number.  The individual drove off northbound without paying a $32.00 charge. 

2:50 p.m.         Property Damage – An individual on N. Hanson reported his neighbor was burning weeds during a burn ban and has burned some of their fencings.

3:19 p.m.         Welfare Check – A person at Family Dollar reported a green Durango has been in the parking lot for two hours, and she can’t tell if the main inside is breathing.  The male looks approximately 21.  The caller does not feel comfortable going close to his vehicle.

4:32 p.m.         Suspicious Circumstance – A caller on S. Park reported a blue Chevy pickup, possibly a 2-door car, had a male inside that was checking all the local mailboxes. 

April 6

 1:19 a.m.        Suspicious Circumstance – An individual on S. Byron reported she received a text message about an hour ago advising her a neighbor saw someone in her backyard.   She did not see anyone in the area but would like the area checked on through the night. 

5:08 p.m.         Suspicious Circumstance – A person on W. Fir reported a tan 4-door Lincoln LP with a male sleeping in it for the past three hours.  The vehicle was parking facing the street and away from the apartments. 

April 7

9:17 a.m.         Malicious Injury – An individual at Food Plaza reported someone had damaged her fuel tank.  The caller was in a 2007 black Nissan Murano. 

12:42 p.m.       Request Assistance – A caller reported he had lost a blower off his landscaped trailer.  It is unknown if it fell off or was stolen while in Shelley. 

6:30 p.m.         Traffic Complaint – A caller at the intersection of 1400 North and US Hwy 91 reported a blue Ford F150 southbound on the highway, sped through a construction zone, and just turned west onto Anderson.  They could not get the license plate. 

April 8

3:50 p.m.         Animal Complaint – An individual reported a blue Heeler was picked up earlier today and would like to meet with an officer at the shelter to pick it up.

11:57 p.m.       Officer found an unlocked door at the high school.  

April 9

 10:13 a.m.      Animal Complaint – A caller on E. Elm reported a small white dog was running loose in the area.  It appeared to be injured. 

12:34 p.m.       An individual on S. Emerson reported a black and white Husky with a bed collar was on the loose.  The caller detained the dog and would like an officer to pick it up.  

4:27 p.m.         Suspicious Circumstance – A business on S. State reported a red Camero or Mustang with an unknown license plate, kept circling an area where a female was walking on foot.  The female hid behind the business to not be seen by the driver.

10:19 p.m.       Business Alarm – A business on S. State Street had an alarm go off.  The alarm was coming from the back door.  

11:53 p.m.       Extra Patrol – A caller on Ruby Circle reported some teenagers are threatening her son by stating they are going to break into his house with guns.  The caller said the suspects drove away in a white Honda Civic with a light bar underneath.  

April 10

1:24 p.m.         Parking Complaint – An individual on E. Oak complained about construction vehicles parked outside.  He wanted an officer to tell them not to park on the street. 

3:02 p.m.         Request Assistance – An individual on W. Maple reported he was supposed to get his child after his significant other was served with a CPO.  He claims she avoided officers.

April 11

1:46 a.m.         Suspicious Circumstance – A person on Opal Court reported a light-colored Silverado was parked across the street, and its engine had been running for several houses.  The caller has not seen anyone come or go from it.  The officer checked the vehicle out and found it was not running. 

9:47 a.m.         Civil Standby – An individual reported her younger sister was supposed to pick up items from their mother’s former residence on Milton at 1 p.m.  The caller was concerned the brother will cause issues.  She is not allowed on the property but will be nearby.  She would like to speak with an officer.

11:00 a.m.       Malicious Injury – A caller on October Cove reported that her mailbox was damaged during the night.    

5:36 p.m.         Business Alarm – A business on N. State Street had an alarm go off. 

8:05 p.m.         Animal Complaint – A caller on E. Center reported a missing male Dalmation with a blue and green collar. 

8:57 p.m.         An individual on S. Park requested to speak to an officer about threats her child received from another individual. 

9:50 p.m.         Animal Complaint – An individual on Berrett Ave. reported a missing small, gray male Rat Terrier, which had no collar. 

10:19 p.m.       Business Alarm – A business on S. State had an alarm go off.  It was the back door alarm that was faulty. 

April 12

9:00 p.m.         An individual on E. Maple requested extra patrol in their area.  No further information was given. 

April 13           No incidents were reported on this date.

April 14

8:56 a.m.         Battery – A battery was reported at Hobbs Middle School.  No further information was given. 

10:26 a.m.       Another school incident was reported at Hobbs Middle School.  No further information was given. 

11:23 a.m.       Animal Complaint – An individual on Aspen reported their neighbor has 3 dogs in their backyard, which continually bark non-stop. They have been barking since 6 a.m.  They have tried contacting the neighbors, but no one is ever home.  In the past, they have spoken to the owner, who did not address the issue. 

6:38 p.m.         Civil Stand-by – A person on Opal Court requested an officer standby while he attempted to retrieve his items from this ex-girlfriend’s apartment.  The caller advised that she was refusing to give him back his work closes and other items. 

April 15

 6:15 a.m.        An individual in Shelley reported someone put something on his car.  No further details were given. 

6:26 a.m.         Grand Theft – A 4-wheeler was stolen during the night on E. Center Street.  The caller reported it was last seen in the driveway last night at 10 p.m. It is a red Suzuki with a black seat and new tires. 

9:31 a.m.         Animal Complaint – A person on W. Oak reported two Huskies running loose. 

10:57 a.m.       Information – An individual on N. Holmes Ave. reported an individual is in a residence where he is restricted from going.  He is at the scene now and opened the gate to the yard. 

11:11 a.m.       Malicious Injury – An individual at the North Bingham County Library reported someone had sprayed graffiti on the building’s new siding in four places.  The library had camera footage of the incident.  They would like to make a report. 

3:02 p.m.         Malicious Injury – Graffiti was also reported on Eaton Body Shop & Towing’s building across from the library. 

5:07 p.m.         Accident – An individual reported they had got into a 2-vehicle accident on W. Fir.  There were no injuries.  However, both lanes were blocked.  The accident involved a green 2020 Subaru and a white Ford F150. 

6:32 p.m.         Animal Complaint – A female German Shepherd was found in a yard on Holley Street.  It had no collar, and its owner is unknown.

April 16

12:27 p.m.       Traffic Complaint – An individual reported the driver of a silver SUV was unable to maintain his lane of travel.  The caller thought he might be attempting to use narcotics while driving.  He turned onto westbound Fir St.  He was later arrested. 

1:19 p.m.         A caller on W. Maple reported two females in their 30’s were fighting as they walked toward Byron.  They were yelling and pushing each other. 

9:18 p.m.         Robbery – A person reported there were two male juveniles, approximately 14 and 15-years-old.  They were both running along the backside of the canal between Hummingbird Lane and N. Park.  The caller said it appears they came from the storage units on Hummingbird and were running to get away from an individual driving a 1990’s Coupe. 

April 17

12:33 p.m.       Found Property – An individual reported a blue motorcycle in the field at the back of their home on S. Holmes Ave.  

8:20 p.m.         Fireworks Complaint – A caller on Oak Street reported what sounded like two gunshots in the area.  They believe it came from the south. 

April 18

12:30 p.m.       Animal Complaint – An individual on S. Homes reported a dog barking all day long.  It is unknown who or where the barking dog is located. 

2:52 p.m.         Disturbing the Peace – A person living on Hummingbird Lane complained a juvenile male was blasting music from his garage for the past hour.  The caller said the music was turned down a little, but they would like it lower.  He said he could no longer hear it. 

4:05 p.m.         An individual on E. Maple, who was eluding Police, was arrested  

April 19

2:10 a.m.         Suspicious Circumstance  – A person reported two males were behind the Family Dollar Store in a white truck.  The males got out, and they were loading boxes from the back of the store into the vehicle. 

8:08 a.m.         Animal Complaint – Found – A caller on E. Fir reported a black and tan Weiner dog wandering in and out of traffic. They tried to catch the dog but couldn’t get it.

9:23 a.m.         Animal Complaint – Found – A caller on E. Center reported two loose Huskies on the loose. 

11:23 a.m.       Accident was reported at State and Center  No further details were given. 

12:04 p.m.       Abandoned Vehicle – A homeowner of S. Holmes is looking to have an abandoned camp trailer removed from his property. 

3:17 p.m.         Animal Complaint – Found – An individual reported they have a stray dog they would like to be picked up.  It is a male Aussie Mix dog.

4:40 p.m.         Assault – A physical assault occurred on S. Park between two teenage girls.

5:44 p.m.         Petit Theft – A caller on E. Maple, reported having items missing from her residence.   She claimed the landlord’s daughter keeps coming into her home when she is not there.

April 20          

8:23 a.m.         Animal Complaint – Found – An individual on Edwards reported multiple dogs in their back yard.  He said the dogs were aggressive. 

10:42 a.m.       Animal Complaint – Found – A caller on W. Center reported two Husky dogs on the loose.  

6:47 p.m.         Extra Patrol – An individual who lives on Cardinal requested extra patrol after a guy in a maroon early 2000, 4-door Sudan drove by a took a photo of their residence.    

April 21

3:04 a.m.         Agency Assistance – A man at Dad’s Truck Stop asked the cashier to take money out of the register and get him cigarettes.  He and another male were in the restroom when officers arrived. 

9:37 a.m.         Animal Complaint – An individual on Milton reported a dog barking in his neighborhood.  He would like officers to find out where it is at and ask the owner to quiet it. 

6:36 p.m.         Animal Complaint – Found – A caller on E. Fir reported a black dog with white spots on the loose at the park.  The dog was wearing a red collar with white dog bones on it.  The collar had a tag with “Sally” on it.  The dog was being detained until officers arrive. 

6:42 p.m.         Information – A silver Honda Accord has been parked outside Vinyl Expressions for over an hour with no one around it.  The caller would like to be contacted. 

7:18 p.m.         Gas Leak – A homeowner on N. Byron reported a powerful odor of natural gas near their home. 

11:43 p.m.       Prowler – A caller on W. Maple reported someone just threw rocks at her window and then her front door.  She then heard them runoff.
