The Shelley Police Log: March 18-30

The Shelley Police Department handles dozens of emergency calls each week, deploying Police, fire, and medical services.   Community Pioneer omits individual’s names and specific addresses. These statements below materially represent the information in each report with only grammatical changes for flow and clarity.  The following are most of the incidents reported and responded to by the Shelley Police Department between March 18 through March 30.

Mar. 18

7:56 a.m.         Animal Complaint – An individual reported a lost dog on N. Hanson. The dog was a black and white Husky.

6:51 p.m.         A caller requested extra patrol for recent construction on Sunset Cir.

8:36 p.m.         Parking Complaint – An individual reported a vehicle blocking their driveway. It has been a continual problem.

9:50 p.m.         A individual reported a fight in front of the apartments on West Maple.

Mar. 19

4:16 p.m.         Officers responded to a business alarm on State street.

5:25 p.m.         An individual on West Oak reported juveniles riding off-road vehicles on the canal bank. The caller reported having a hard time breathing due to the dust. They requested an officer to make them stop.

8:20 p.m.         An individual reported their neighbors screaming at each other. It was not the first incident; however, nothing got physical.

9:38 p.m.         A caller reported to what they believed to be shots fired. They reported hearing three shots.

Mar. 20

9:00 a.m.         Funeral Escort – An escort requested from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on South Park to the Hillcrest Cemetery.

11:55 a.m.       Animal Complaint – An individual reported a small black dog running loose near some apartments.

2:12 p.m.         A person on Edwards Ave. reported a man trespassing. It is unknown if the man was intoxicated.

3:50 p.m.         Civil Complaint – An individual reported that a man was not allowed contact with his granddaughter.

4:03 p.m.         Traffic Complaint – A caller reported a vehicle could not maintain the lane on State Street.

Mar. 21

12:32 p.m.       An individual reported a family member had their vehicle’s back window broken out.

2:24 p.m.         Theft – An individual called about a family member suspected of stealing their credit card to use at the casino.

8:18 p.m.         Disturbing the Peace – A person reported repeated knocking at their front door.

10:18 p.m.       A burglar alarm was tripped at a business on State Street.

Mar. 22

8:45 a.m.         Funeral Escort – An escort was requested from Nalder’s Funeral Home to Hillcrest Cemetery.

4:53 p.m.         An accident was reported in front of Broulims. No injuries were reported.

8:09 p.m.         Traffic Complaint – Two motorcycles were reported to be driving recklessly on Lincoln Ave.

8:28 p.m.         An accident was reported in front of Doug’s Meat.

Mar. 23         

8:11 a.m.         Parking Complaint – A caller reported a vehicle blocked a delivery truck from delivering goods.

10:06 a.m.       Animal Complaint – An individual reported a pregnant cat that showed up in their yard. They requested an officer to take the cat.

2:02 p.m.         An accident was reported outside of Broulims.

8:48 p.m.         An individual on Bluebird Ave. reported a juvenile had been missing since Sunday.

Mar. 24

8:28 p.m.         Malicious Injury – An individual reported graffiti on a building on Locust St.

4:59 p.m.         An officer was requested during a child custody exchange on Ruby Cir.

8:37 p.m.         An individual reported their neighbor’s dog barking all day and night.

2:23 p.m.         Suspicious Circumstance – A caller reported a pickup truck was pulling over for two juvenile girls saying, “hey, sexy.”

Mar. 26

3:58 p.m.         A person requested to talk to an officer about fraud.

6:00 p.m.         Accident – A person reported a hit and run on Highway 91. The suspect was arrested.

Mar. 27

4:08 p.m.         Animal Complaint – A caller reported a Chiwawa and a Corgi on the loose. The dogs were found.

Mar. 28

2:02 a.m.         Police Chase – Bonneville County deputies requested SPD help with a vehicle traveling 100 mph over the New Sweden bridge.

1:15 p.m.         Theft – An individual reported that both their plates were missing from their vehicle.

1:28 p.m.         A caller requested officers to help jump their vehicle’s battery.

4:53 p.m.         A caller reported an abandoned vehicle near Robald and State Street.

5:03 p.m.         Elder Abuse – An individual on Maple reported her son was not caring for his grandmother, as she had been out walking the streets in the middle of the night, not taking her medicine, and was missing doctor appointments.  She would like him to leave, but he refuses.  She also claimed he was stealing from her. 

Mar. 29

4:07 a.m.         Officers responded to an alarm at a residence on South Park. They were unable to contact the owner.

7:45 a.m.         A caller reported a traffic cam was hanging by a wire on State Street.

10:47 a.m.       Grand Theft – A vehicle was stolen from a garage on Elm St. The reporter caught the theft on camera with a camera doorbell.

1:29 p.m.         An individual reported a black and green bike left on their property since midnight of the night prior.

1:47 p.m.         Welfare Check – Officers on Oak St contacted a man struggling emotionally.

3:00 p.m.         Suspicious Circumstances – A person on W. Center reported someone attempted to steal two ATVs during the night.

6:10 p.m.         Traffic Complaint – A caller reported a truck driving recklessly on State Street. The reporter states the vehicle was close to causing an accident.

7:22 p.m.         Harassment – An individual reported that someone was harassing their daughter on Pine St.

Mar. 30

11:17 a.m.       A individual on W. Fir reported a male caller told him he was from customs and was calling from a specific number.  He then said he was going to kill them.  He said he knew where they lived.
