Russet Volleyball recognizes Seniors

SHELLEY – Shelley Russet’s Varsity Volleyball team recognized five players at Senior Night Tuesday evening before taking on the Bonneville Bees.

The Russet’s Varsity Volleyball team played their last home game Tuesday, October 5, against a relentless Bonneville Bees team, losing a close one, 3 to 2.   The Russets have two games remaining on their regular-season schedule.  They travel to Skyline tomorrow for a meet at 7 p.m.  Their last meet is Tuesday, October 12 at 7 p.m. at Blackfoot High.

Before the game, Caydence Taylor, Alexis Lexington, Kya Madsen, Carlie Remington, and Mahayla Carlson gathered with their parents on the gym floor.  Each gave a big shout-out and thanks to coaches, family, friends, and teammates for supporting them through their athletic endeavors.

As part of the recognition, each girl was asked about her favorite Volleyball memory and her plans after high school.

Cadence Taylor:

Favorite Volleyball Memory:  Going to State the past two years.  “We made so many memories between scavenger hunts and burning a bagel in the Hotel’s microwave.†

Plans after Graduation:  Attend college and get a degree in Nursing or Dental Hygiene. She also wants to pursue a dream of playing college volleyball.

Alexis Leckington:

Favorite Volleyball Memory:  Going to State and having the most fun time with the girls in the hotels and activities.

Plans after Graduation:  Attend BYU-I and ISU to start a career in dental hygiene.  She wants to marry a “handsome fella†and have “lots of kids and stay here in Idaho the rest of my life.†

Kya Madsen:

Favorite Volleyball Memory:  The first day I came to the volleyball open gym was 8th grade, and I was so nervous because I didn’t know anyone yet.  I had just moved from the tiny town of Challis, Idaho, to Shelley, and I wanted to make a good first impression.  The first thing I did was hit a volleyball in the ceiling and broke a ceiling tile. Sorry, Hobbs Middle School.

Plans after Graduation:  Attend college and study interior design.

Carlie Remington

Favorite Volleyball Memory:  Being in the dunk tank with Coach Leckington.

Plans after Graduation:  Attend College to get a degree in nursing.  She also wants to serve an LDS mission.

Mahayla Carlson

Favorite Volleyball Memory:  Taking Kia’s pre-workout powder at a tournament and got really hyped and excited to the point we were pretty much bouncing off the wall.

Plans after Graduation:  Work and possibly go into massage therapy.
