Peggy Marie Whitman obituary
Peggy Marie Whitman was born July 28, 1951, the oldest child of Harold Wayne Killpack and Joyce Marie Jolley. Raised in the Kimball area, Peggy’s fondest childhood memories were those of the time spent with her Grandma Jolley and the wonderful adventures they had.
Peggy was in the first grade when she started piano lessons and those lessons started a lifelong love of music. By the age of 16 Peggy was called to serve as the ward organist, a calling she dearly loved for over 30 years. She used her skills to teach many others to play the piano and, hopefully, helped them develop their own love of music.
Peggy met James Theron Whitman with the help of her sister, Elaine, and Theron’s sister, Jean. They married in the Idaho Falls Temple November 6, 1970, for time and all eternity. Together they were blessed to be the parents of 4 children: Jennifer (Jason) Grotegut, Alan (Trina) Whitman, Lesley (Craig) Gardner, and David (Amy) Whitman; Grandparents to 19, and Great Grandparents to 1.
Family was everything to Peggy and any time spent with family was time well spent. Birthdays, ball games, concerts, dance recitals, school programs, or any other event Peggy did her best to make sure she was there for her kids, grandkids, as well as her nieces, and nephews.
Camping trips were another of Peggy’s cherished activities, and why wouldn’t they be? Camping always combined family and the outdoors -2 of her favorite things. No matter what was going on Mill Creek for the 4th of July was a must!!
Peggy was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed the many opportunities she was given to serve in Relief Society, Young Women’s, and Primary. She was called to play the organ in the Idaho Falls Temple- an assignment that she, sadly, was only able to fulfill for a short time due to health issues. Her love and testimony of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, supported and sustained her through the many difficulties and challenges she faced in her life. She loved the opportunities she was given to share her testimony with her family, friends. Her greatest hope was that all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren could build their own testimonies of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
As hard as it is to say good-bye to our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother we are grateful that her long battle with cancer is over and she is no longer suffering. We know that she has been happily reunited with her Grandma Jolley, grand-daughter Kiera, and her niece Emily.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Thursday, January 6, 2022 at the Kimball Ward Chapel (744 North 600 East) in Firth. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Thursday morning from 10:30 till 11:40 A.M at the Church. Burial will be in the Firth Cemetery. Until we are all again reunited, we will miss you, we will try to make you proud, and we love you.
