Clinton Lamar Mecham, 79, of Firth passed away on June 5, 2023.

He was born on May 12, 1944 in Shelley, Idaho to Oren Clinton and Udeen Palmer Mecham.  He was the oldest of six children.

He grew up and attended schools in Firth, graduating from Firth High School in 1962.

On April 17, 1972 he married Janice Ferguson in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They lived in Idaho Falls for several years before moving to the family farm in Firth.

In 1969 Lamar started his employment with the R.T. French Company in Shelley.  He worked for French’s for many years before retiring in 2009. 

He also ran the 112 acre family farm. With old machinery, Lamar and Jan raised hay and grain along with calves and goats.

Lamar was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed going for rides around the country. He was able to ride in a helicopter around Mt. Rushmore.

He is survived by his wife, Janice, sister, Linda Mecham Goddard, brother, Barry (Claudia) Mecham and sister, Lori Mecham Niehart, along with a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Mont and Lonnie.

Family services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of  Nalder Funeral Home.
