Shelley High School Bond fails!!

SHELLEY:  The bond for the proposed new Shelley High School has failed. Newly elected City Council Members and school board members announced.

According to the Bingham County Elections Office, the Shelley High School Bond failed to get enough votes to pass the two-thirds majority required.  The bond only received 944 (48.49%) votes favor of it, while 1007 (51.61%) voted against it.

In the City Council races, Don West won over Paul Voelker by 662 votes (73.56%) to 238 votes (26.44%) for Seat #2. Don West will replace Adam French, who is leaving the Council. French had been on the council for almost two terms.

In the race for City Council Seat #3, Dallin T. Jolley won over Brady B. Jordan and Leif Watson.  Jolley received 462 votes (51.28%), whereas Jordan received 68 votes (7.55%), and Watson received 371 votes (41.18%). Leif Watson was the incumbent. He had been on the council for one term.

In the School Board Zone 2 election, Nicholas J. Tanner won over Matt Winder by 182 (53.69%) votes to 157 votes (46.31%).

These numbers are based on the unofficial election results, with 88.2% of the precincts reporting. Any differing election results will be updated when all precincts have been reported.
