Giddy up for the Little Buckaroo Rodeo

FIRTH — The 55th annual Little Buckaroo Rodeo is kicking off next Friday.

Kids 12 years old and younger will get to participate Friday and Saturday, August 6-7 in the Little Buckaroo Rodeo at the Firth Riverview Arena. Then on Saturday at 11 a.m. the Little Buckaroo parade will march down the street.

“We’d like to invite anyone willing to come participate in the parade. The bigger the better!” Lacey Edwards told Community Pioneer.

The parade theme is Round-Up Reunion. Those participating in the parade should line up by 10:30 a.m. at Firth High School.

Prior to the parade on Saturday, there will be a Cowboy Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The events planned for the rodeo on Friday and Saturday are:

  • Stick Pony Races for ages 4 and younger
  • Ribbon Pull for ages 4 and younger
  • Chicken Scramble ages 5 and younger (no entree fee required)
  • Sheep Riding ages 5 to 8 (must weigh under 50 lbs)
  • Ribbon Tie ages 5 to 8
  • Goat Roping ages 5 to 8 (riding a stick horse)
  • Wild Goat Milking ages 8 to 12
  • Pig Scramble ages 8 to 12
  • Barrel Racing ages 8 to 12
  • Sheep Dressing ages team ages 8 to 12
  • Calf Riding ages 9 to 12

Tickets can be purchased at the gate. Adult tickets cost $5 and children’s tickets, ages 12 and younger, cost $2.

All proceeds go towards supporting the Firth FFA and local 4-H programs.
