Bingham County Sheriff’s Log: Feb. 19-24

This log is only a partial report of all incidences reported to the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office. It contains only those incidences that occur in northern Bingham County. In this area, the Sheriff’s Department handles dozens of emergency calls each week, deploying police, fire, and medical services. Names and specific addresses have been omitted. These statements below materially represent the information in each report with only grammatical changes for flow and clarity. The following is a list of most of the incidents reported and responded to by Bingham County Deputies between Feb. 19 through Feb. 24. 

Feb. 19

10:36 p.m.       Suspicious Circumstance – A caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked behind the Sugar Factory that was “blacked out.” The caller believes she witnessed three subjects leave the vehicle and walk behind the building.

Feb. 20

1:00 a.m.         Accident – A caller said he had run off E. River Road in Firth and hit a mailbox.  No injuries were reported.  A tow truck was present to pull the vehicle out.

6:48 a.m.         Accident – A caller reported a white SUV slid off the northbound lanes to I-15 at mile marker 105, west of Shelley.  The vehicle’s lights were on, and it was in the freeway’s fence.

8:26 a.m.         Accident – An undescribed vehicle ran off US Highway 91 south of Shelley and damaged someone’s fence.  No further details were given.  

10:47 p.m.       Slide Off – A caller reported they had slid off the road in their orange Saturn at 1300 North and 400 East, west of I-15 Exit 108 (Shelley). 

11:39 p.m.       Abandoned Vehicle  – A red pickup was parked on the side of US Highway 91 north of Shelley.  The vehicle was partially causing a hazard. 

Feb. 21

8:03 a.m.         Request Assistance – A individual in Firth reported his son’s cell phone was stolen several days ago.  Last night, he called the number, and the suspect answered and stated they would not return it.  The GPS on the phone showed it at a dwelling on W. Fir in Shelley. 

3:31 p.m.         Accident – A caller reported a white pickup crashed into their steel fence along US Highway 91, south of Firth. 

Feb. 22

1:47 a.m.         Hazard – A caller west of Shelley reported a 2-foot snowdrift on the road that created a severe hazard. 

9:08 a.m.         Accident – A person northeast of Shelley reported a power pole was hit and damaged sometime during the past two days.  No paint was transferred onto the pole.  They would like to meet with a deputy regarding the matter.

10:16 a.m.       Grand Theft – A person reported someone stole a portable light tower from a highway construction site on US Highway 91 and county road.  

1:00 p.m.         Welfare Check – A caller on Wilson in Firth reported two small children are playing in a snowdrift near the alley by Hardtimes.  One had a shovel.  Both are boys. 

9:36 p.m.         Hazard – A caller reported a large hay bale in the right-hand lane of US Highway 91 north of Shelley. 

9:38 p.m.         Accident – A caller reported a power pole southeast of Shelley.   There are unknown injuries. 

Feb. 23

12:30 p.m.       Animal Complaint – A person west of Shelley reported her neighbor said there are two Boxers on the loose in her area who have a history of killing small livestock.  The caller would like to know “where they belong.”

3:25 p.m.         Civil Standby – A caller requested a deputy be present as a man comes to his house to pick up repossessed material. 

3:27 p.m.         A person in Basalt reported they located a phone her great-niece was given, and it has messages on it regarding drugs and pornographic material.

7:43 p.m.         A person southwest of Shelley reported her phone, including Venmo and Paypal, had been hacked.

Feb. 24

2:15 a.m.         Agency Assistance – Bonneville County’s Sheriff’s Office requested Bingham County contact the owner of a business that was broken into south of Idaho Falls. 

2:48 a.m.         A man in Firth was taken into custody for DUI.  No further details were given.
