Firth gets high scores at state cheer championship

NAMPA – Firth Cougar Cheer overcomes injuries early on to take first in cheer stunts and third place for cheer pom, cheer sideline, and show cheer at the Idaho State Cheer competition.

Firth high school cheerleaders fought through serious injuries to win 1st place in stunts and take 3rd place in cheer pom, sideline and cheer show at the Idaho State Cheer Championship competition held at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa on March 19.

“One girl sprained her ankle, two girls pulled their hamstring, and a third girl tore her shoulder all during the second routine,†cheerleader parent and attendee Marcey Holley said. 

These girls continued to perform throughout the competition helping the Cougars tie for 3rd place with Declo. 

“Show cheer placement points were used to break the tie.  So overall, we took fourth out of twelve teams,†Coach Tracy Rowe said.  “I was so proud of the girls.  They have worked hard all season.†
