Juried Art Exhibition begins Sept. 18
EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a news release from Bingham Arts Council.
BLACKFOOT — Everyone is invited to the exhibition for the Bingham Arts 2021 Juried Art Exhibition. This exhibition is free to the public and will be on display at the Candy Jar Art Gallery, 105 NW Main, Blackfoot, from September 18th through October 13th.
This year’s judge is Stephanie J. Frostad, MFA, a narrative painter from Missoula, Montana. She has exhibited her artwork throughout the United States and abroad, and her work is held in numerous public and private collections. Her art has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Montana Art Council Innovation Award. (You can see her work at https://stephaniefrostad.com).
The Juried Exhibition is an annual event featuring original art and composition by a variety of artists and mediums. Winning entries are eligible for cash prizes, sponsored this year by Bingham Arts Council, and the Shelley Supporters of the Arts. The Art Gallery is provided by the Candy Jar. Prizes will be awarded at the opening reception, held on September 18, 2021, at the Candy Jar Art Gallery from 7 to 9 PM.
The 2020 first place winner was Marina Zavalova, an artist from Idaho Falls, who has made Idaho her home since 1990, when she and her family, including her husband and three children, emigrated from the Soviet Union as political refugees. Although she was trained at the Moscow Art Academy as a fabric designer, she prefers to work with three dimensional
subjects in oil paints. Marina is passionate about her art, and her drive to create has helped her overcome many obstacles, beginning with limited access to art materials. We have been fortunate to be able to see and enjoy her hard-won success.
“It was so exciting to participate in the Bingham Arts Council Juried Art Show,†Marina said. “Blackfoot and the surrounding areas are a beautiful place and there is a lot of art activity to offer. I am very proud to be part of the community and will continue to support this amazing group of talented artists! I consider myself a Soldier of Art, embracing the connection with people and nature, and making new art friends. See you at the new show!â€
